Yes, Lewis Hamilton and Richard Hammond have met, most notably during the Top Gear Festival in Barbados in May 2014.

During this event, Hammond interviewed and interacted with Hamilton, jokingly attempting to show him "what all the fuss is about" regarding Formula 1, according to footage from the event.
Yes, on one level. On another level the drivers expect to be able to drive fast. It's not exactly F1 when you go through a corner slowly to save battery powerInteresting to hear the noise being made about the new regs. Lots of fans and a few drivers complaining, but the reality is the rules are the same for everyone, so surely suck it up and move on?
I loved the opening laps of the last race. That was something we haven't seen in ages.
Not quite. Previously they've been able to go through a corner as fast as the car, and driver, was able - especially during qualifying. Now they have to ease off in some places due to battery constraints. Previously the major constraint was tyre grip - which required driving skill. Now a major constraint is battery management.Sure, but why now? This has been a "problem" for some time already, the difference is the driver has to manage this one, in the past it was pitwall scalextric where engineers were telling them to dial the engine down. It's a new skill to learn.
They're all going as fast as they can in qualifying, why do you think that's changed?
No it's not.
If they can go faster, they should just go faster, have they maybe not just missed your memo?
You do realise they're still going the fastest they can at that point.
Yes! It takes skill to manage that balance. You need to be strategic. These are good things. Strategy is part of racing, I'm glad for it.
I'm also over 70, so I share his pain... Alzheimer's is realCouldn't get through the whole thing.
Surprised to hear him say he's never met Richard. Having been a guest twice on Top Gear, you'd think they'd have crossed paths. Unless he was speaking tongue in cheek...
