F1 2026

Not F1, but HANS probably saved another driver this weekend during the finish to the NASCAR race at Talladega. Superspeedway racing for the win, so the cars were full tilt (~200 mph) and the drivers at their most aggressive.

Aside from some bruises and an injured wrist, he was all good.

The radio between him and his spotter was quite scary. Probably lost the radio in the impact, but the lack of communication was concerning. NASCAR has apologised for the time it took to get to him.

Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson have been handed a one-place grid penalty each for Sunday’s Mexican Grand Prix, along with one superlicence penalty point apiece

  • The Incident: During Free Practice 2 (FP2) at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Verstappen (on a preparation lap) and Lawson (on a cool-down lap) came together wheel-to-wheel through the stadium section (Turns 12–14), causing contact that damaged Verstappen's bargeboard and triggered a red flag.
  • The Penalty Reason: Stewards deemed the wheel-to-wheel scrap "unacceptable," "unnecessary," and "clumsy," noting that drivers had already been explicitly warned during the Friday team managers' meeting about blocking or battling during practice sessions.
Additionally, Cadillac's Valtteri Bottas received a cumulative 50-place grid penalty for the Mexican Grand Prix after taking on multiple new power unit elements (including his fifth internal combustion engine and turbocharger) past the seasonal limit, meaning he will start from the back of the grid.
