Hmm, trying to make sense of this, Polish my good man... You saying Austria is at a new track? The A1 Ring is in Spielberg. Or are you saying it's back on the calendar? Which I'm sure you know it has been for the last two years (I think?).

You were not alone, I wondered what had happened to the Red Bull Ring so I looked it up, only to find that Red Bull Ring is the renamed A1-Ring which is the renamed Österreichring and is situated in Spielberg.

So they are all the same place :erm:

too many rings in Austria

its a hot track though, with all them trees

I think Rubens won that GP once from like 17th place, or maybe it was Belgium

RB won from 17th (or was it last?) at Hockenheim (the old layout through the trees) in the early 00's. That was the race that some crazy fan ran onto the track, precipitating a safety car. Was a crazy race!

Here's a lap of the A1 ring. I chose a V10 lap (for the sound of course! :love: )

yes that's the one, was a great drive

i'm a sucker for races in that era, that sound, those gear changes..................orgasmic
 
Porsche seems to have been invited to the next engine meeting for the 2020 regulations.

This might get good.

Not really that out of touch, they are running Champions in LMP1 at Le Mans and if anything those hybrids are more complex the F1 Hybrids. They would not be starting from scratch.

Williams dismiss talk of Honda link-up


Former world champions Williams have dismissed suggestions they could revive a Formula One partnership with Honda if McLaren decide to split from the Japanese manufacturer.

Deputy team principal Claire Williams said the team was happy with its Mercedes power units and there had been no talks with Honda.

"We had a fantastic relationship with them back in the 1980s, but I can categorically say that we have not talked to Honda," she told TalkSPORT2 radio in a show to be broadcast on Thursday.

"We are not here ready with a press release saying we are joining forces with them in 2018. We haven't talked to them," she added.

"We all know that Honda do put a huge amount of money at McLaren but when I weigh up the pros and cons, would I rather have the budget we have and be the fourth quickest car or have a huge amount of money and finish P9 (ninth) again?"

Williams finished fifth overall last year, down from third in 2015. They are currently sixth.

McLaren, the sport's second most successful team in terms of race wins, are currently last in the championship and the only ones yet to score in 2017.

Honda have already announced they will supply the Sauber team with engines next year but Swiss tabloid Blick, citing rumours from England, suggested Williams could become the Japanese manufacturer's main factory focus.

Williams and Brazilian Nelson Piquet won the 1987 world championship with Honda engines.
