Sauber reveal new car in anniversary livery

Sauber have become the second team to release pictures of their 2017 challenger, with the Swiss team also unveiling a brand-new colour scheme.

The Ferrari-powered C36 will run in a blue, white and gold livery this season, as Sauber celebrate 25 years in F1 racing.

Marcus Ericsson is set to give the new car its track debut in Spain this week, when it is rolled out at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for a filming day prior to next week’s first official pre-season test.

It remains to be seen when new recruit Pascal Wehrlein will get his first chance behind the wheel, however, with the German being forced to sit out the first four-day session due to the back injury he suffered at this year's Race of Champions.

Renault are set to become the next team to take the covers off their 2017 car, with the Enstone team due to unveil the R.S.17 in London on Tuesday.

RealtimeUK automotive artists Chris Blankley and Carlos Pecino take their F1 passion to another level using design initiative and pure talent to create this photo-real CG animation predicting the 2017 McLaren Honda.

Whoever ripped it off is now trying to claim it is real and is using it for click bait with no reference to the original work.

One can only hope the McLarens will have some yellow on the back this year ;)
 
The Renault looks better without the awful shark fin. So sad to see that atrocity making a comeback.
 
Verstappen reveals 2017 helmet

Max Verstappen has revealed the helmet livery he will wear in 2017, and it may not go down well with his countrymen.
"We always try to modify our helmet design a little bit," says the Dutch teenager.
"The colours are a little bit different this year, no orange any more," he continues, the orange being the national colour of the Netherlands, his helmet, which previously (bottom right) featured the red and lighter blue of the Netherlands flag now basically the same matt red and dark blue look as the Red Bull.

"It's similar to what I've had for a long time, throughout my career, I've just modified the colours a bit.
"From Spa onwards I had a lion on it, a Dutch lion," he says, showing the top of the helmet, "I've modified the lion so it looks a bit more aggressive.
"I've also had to modify the top where it was blue so it looks different to Daniel. I'm pretty happy with it."
It will be interesting to see if Ricciardo makes his Honey Badger look aggressive in response to Max' lion.

Ricciardo reveals 2017 lid

Following yesterday's reveal from Max Verstappen, today it's Daniel Ricciardo's turn to show off a new helmet design.
His Arai helmet keeps faith with his previous livery but, like Max's design, riffs off the colour scheme of the RB13.
"We've changed it up a little bit this year," says Daniel. "A few things remain, others go with the theme of the car – but there’s still enough of my design to know that it's me and not Max! There's still a big difference between the two.
Designed by Jens Munser, F1's most celebrated helmet painter, Ricciardo's lid leaves little doubt as to who its owner is.
"While the Australian flag disappears from underneath the visor, the Southern Cross makes an appearance and the Honey Badger still snarls his presence at the rear.
"It's pretty subtle," says the Red Bull star, "it's still got the Aussie... tip of the hat.
"The Honey Badger has remained," he continues. "He's still as bad ass as ever. For a few years I had 'what would he do', but I wanted to change it this year so I'll probably go with a few different ones, but for now it's 'my time', which is pretty self-explanatory."
Indeed it is Daniel, indeed it is.
