Was reading the posts between certian people.
Was wondering do you guys support the driver or the team. What i mean is this.
I support the "iceman" now next year he is off to ferrari. Iam not a ferrari supporter more Mclaren, but i prefer iceman to alonso.

So is it the driver or the team you guys support or are you like me in a bit of a pickle for next year ?

Yeah, it is a dilemma that 'Team' supporters find themselves in. I too am a McLaren supporter and am sorry to see Kimi go.

I thinks it going to be fun to watch Kimi at Ferrari, although I for one, am concerned that he doesn't have the ability to 'manage' the team to get the best out of the car. For this reason I believe he should have stayed at McLaren as their structure better suits his ability IMHO. I think there is a real worry that he could go down in history as one of the best drivers never to win a championship. I realise that's a h3ll of a statement, but it's what I believe. Now is when I should say, hopefully I'm wrong, but then again, I am a McLaren boy.

Anyway, he breaks cars. (Had to say it, he's deserting us!!) :D

Yep...

True... I think I still like Alonso, but I will be following Kimi closely at ferarri, but i don't anticipate him (or anyone else in the near future) to get the same support Michael got. It's going to be a mixed bag for me next year...
Who knows, maybe we will have the opportunity to support Adrian Zaugg in F1, but then hopefully he can stay human after the F1 experience :D
Aah well...
What I like about Alonso is that he is still young enough to make a big impact, but I certainly don't want another MS, that's for sure... at least not the special attention he got... what I would like to see is a different champion each year fot the next 5 years with the top 4 spots being closely contended over 4 different teams...
Pie in the sky I guess :D

As for teams, it's McLaren all the way - I guess it's the brit side.

Team without a doubt.

Once in a while you get a driver who you will support no matter which team he drives for, but in today's day and age these are few and far between.

Next year Kimi is our man and I can only hope that he is not a car breaker as sm68 seems to think.;) I do of course have the same concerns as you though as I believe you as a driver have to be bigger than the team to really make it work for you at Ferrari and I don't believe that there is any one of the current crop of F1 drivers who is.

It would be nice to see a local driver in F1 again, but the chances of that happening are slim as there are very few SA companies who have pockets deep enough to sponsor them.

In respects of Zaug, WTF was Simpson doing in the race seat this weekend??? 21st in the sprint race and 11th in the feature race?

I started off supporting MS when he was a Benetton driver..because I drove a Ford and my friends were dissing me about Nissan vs Ford. So when he won the Championship, I was hooked. I followed him to Ferrari but I have to admit, I'm now a Ferrari supporter. I think Kimmi is awsome and feel he will be champ in 2007. The Meclaren has let him down race after race and now with Alonso driving that same car next year...interesting.

I honestly think Alonso has the makings to be one of the best. When he gets in the car he is a professional and puts in "best lap" after lap. And he is still so young! His "off the field" remarks are a bit disappointing but then again, he is still young.

The one driver I totally admired, for his attitude though, is Montoya. Ok don't give me a hard time :p I just mean, if he makes a mistake, or crashes or so, he doesn't blame people, he says "I did it" and shrugs his shoulders as if to say "that's racing". That's what I like about him.

But to get to the question, team man! Ferrari!

Montoya has loads of talent but seems to be a bit wild. Better for him at nascar where they are all full of themselves (americans, humph).

Iceman broke cars  - Alonso doesn't:cool: . So. Ferrari won't win shiit next season:D . McLaren win constructors and drivers with Fernando Alonso (that's SIR to u ferrari and renault fans):D

And anyway..........

Ermm anyone who's ever driven in a McLaren has had their fair share of bad luck in it. I think maybe it's a bit unfair to label Kimi as a car-breaker without seeing him perform first at Ferrari. Afterall he didn't break anything when he started off at Sauber ;)

With respects to team or driver - definitely team. People tend to forget the huge amount of technical know-how that goes into a successful F1 team, instead focusing on the driver because he's the one shown on camera during the race. It's a team sport, everybody contributes in their own way. IMO McLaren would dominate the sport if it weren't for their reliability issues.

We'll just have to diarise and resurrect this thread when Ferrari and Kimi wins the championship

I believe Kimi is going to get what he needs to make a difference in his F1 career @ Ferrari.
He must just get his speech sorted out  Irritates the cr@p outa me.

Am a MS and Ferrari fan. Kimi comes next. Button is cool too.
Will never support Alonso with all his comments he have had this year. He can eat ****!!

The problem for me is that I basically supported any driver or team that wasn't Schumacher, and by implication, Ferrari. Now there's this huge vacuum that I don't know how to fill mentally.

Kimi's always been cool, but can I reconcile my Schumacher-derived hatred for Ferrari with the Iceman? I have supported Alonso and Renault, and Kimi and Mclaren mostly because they were the drivers/teams most likely to oust Schumel.

I think I may support at wild card team/driver combo like Kubica @ BMW.

Monalonso
:D

Well, you gotta admire an underdog...

Born Fernando Alonso DĂaz (Alonso is his father's first surname; DĂaz, his mother's - this is the regular Spanish custom) on July 29, 1981, in Oviedo, in the Asturias province of northern Spain. His mother worked in a department store and his father was employed as an explosives expert in the mining industry. The Alonsos and their two children, older sister Lorena and Fernando, lived comfortably but were by no means a wealthy family
....
As a child, Alonso and his father, who also doubled as his mechanic, competed in karting competitions around Spain. While his entire family fully supported Fernando’s increasingly successful hobby, his progress required more funding than his family’s resources could provide. It was difficult to acquire sponsorships and the only way to get the financial backings was to win races, and so he did. Age was never a hindrance as he easily won three Spanish Karting Titles (1994, 1996 and 1997). He raced in the European Karting Championship, placing second, and by his mid teens he was the world junior karting champion in 1996.

Like Fiekus and his ford, I supported McLaren simply because I drive a Merc so first it was Mica then Kimi which I supported and still do.
Now with Kimi going to Ferrari is going to be a problem and its going to be a hard pill to swollow to be a Ferrari supporter.
On the other hand I dont like Alonso either so I'm gonna have to dump being a McClaren supporter now.
Pity Kimi didn't go to Renault, that could have been interesting :)

Well I truly hope this happens as Kimi deserves it but what worries me a bit is as sm68 says, "he breaks cars" and I really hope this not the case but sometimes one wondered.

Ah, jealousy talk because he took the championship away from za German.

Jealousy makes you nasty.
Nope, no jealousy, he doesnt have anything I can be jealous of.
A guy that cant take a beating and accept defeat, whatever the circumstances, is not a man at all.

It was amazing to see MS going over to his engineers when he got back in the paddock and almost consoled the guys. He knew what happened. No use harping or going on about it. He just accepted it. That's F1.

Alonso probably would have run off like a girl (arms and legs flailing in all directions) and sat in his trailer and cried "why oh why did it happen to me.... mommy.... oh why .. boo hoo hoo, it must have been the type of tar on the tarmac... oh no... the world is against me.... everybody hates me"

not too far off on the latter ;) :D

For me it's the team. Doesn't matter who drives for them. You welcome a new driver like a new family member and support him.

The true mark of a team supporter is one that supports the team through their losses and their wins.
