Fable 2 Thread

Lol, i like the manuals (those that are done with a bit of effort). I guess it's part of the "experience" for me, and why i will never pirate games. The smell, the feel of the paper as it flits through my fingers, the gooseflesh as i pop the disc from its casing...ok, this is getting weird.

Funny thing there with Halo 3. If you just played the game the beginning was completely underwhelming and confusing. If you read the manual - it had the whole friggin story and then some. I wonder how many people missed that?

I have been thingking about this game for the last 2 months...and hoping that it will be what I want it to be.
It is and more!

The first thing I realised with my first sunrise was: Albion is alive!

The world feels like it exsists with or without you...the people (I refuse to call them NPC's) live with or without you.
The world does not end when you you switch off your machine. I can imagine Bowerstone and Oakfield carrying on without me, laughing, crying...living.

I read somewhere that if you praise the dog too much that it will find more treasure but be less effective at fighting.
So last night when he started to chase his tail, I scolded him, to make sure that he becomes a better fighter. I have never felt worse for my actions, as I saw him slink away with his tail between his legs, ignoring me when I got close to him.
I had to praise him, just to see his tail wag again. He is now a friend and not a "game mechanic".

I see myself as a jaded gamer, too many dissapointments too often.
This has certainly changed the way I look at games in the future.

ORLY? I might have to get this then.

Got to agree with you, Albion does feel "alive" which is a unique gameplay experience.

As for the dog, its so cute and so realistic acting that i cant help but laugh at it. As for the scolding, i dont think i could do it again after doing it once. It breaks your heart to scold the poor thing.

I also loved the "Master Chief" clothing and Cyber sword from Halo3 being the secret clothing you get with the special edition verion. That was a fun surprise!

Well, am enjoying the game so far........*runs off to play*

yo! grabbed my copy in dbn this morning!! looking great thus far. free cameras do make me a bit squeamish ala fps but nothin too bad. i didnt play fable so im a first timer in albion and i gotta say i'm lovin it. hope this rpg will restore my faith in rpgs

Really cool game. Albion definitely is "alive" as mentioned, and i immediately started by renting out my caravan for some income, currently 3 star level blacksmith and 2 star woodcutter. Delaying the main quest for the moment to see what i can accumulate and do. Looove my pooch, especially the treasure finding and dig-spots he uncovers.
There are a few niggles but they're all minor. The menus are a bit sluggish, as are some of the mini-games. I'm sure it can be fixed in a patch though, so let's hope they do.
And i would have preferred for my "Hero" to have a voice - just feels a bit awkward when you have absolutely no dialogue and rely mostly on expressions. But apart from these, i'm really digging this game and am interested to see where the story's going.

I like the idea of the mute hero again...
I started the game with 100 000 gold due to Fable 2 pub games.

100 000 gold!
I've bought a modest 7000 gold house. :o
Btw, did you get my friend's request?

ummm...:o
I've been too busy playing Fable 2 offline...so havent had chance to go online...

When I got in and merged my pub patron with my character, I bought the bowerstone pub, 2 houses, the one right next to the pub, the apothecary and the produce stall.
The latest purchase was the smithy in bowerstone... :D

Trust me, it does not mean much, it is easier to make money being a smith than the rent thing.
Of course it is a lot easier to make many being evil than good.

I honestly played the Pub games for the items and within 1/2 hour I found better weapons.

Kerrrang, I have some weapons and stuff that I'll trade to you once I go online. I might be able to go online in the next few days.

Trading only as I am not downloading the patch at this stage, people are losing all their stuff due to the patch...

Does anyone know what the usage is like for this online?

It's weird. It's an awesome game, I'm loving it, but the last thing I think about when playing is it being an RPG. It comes across as this mad mix of GTA and The Sims that's just mesmerizing.

If I have a criticism of it, it's exactly that, you spend so much time mucking about (I spent 15 minutes last night dying my robes  ) that there doesn't seem to be that much combat. I'm trying to find some side quests but they seem to be a bit sparse. (I'm in the middle of the Gareth mission if that's any indication)

The online side of it is really awesome as well, I don't think it really strikes you until you deal with it. It's almost an MMO. The idea is such a good one it's really sad that they didn't get the full co-op going, it would have been fantastic, but understandably unbalanced.

This game is exactly like GTA...with swords and spells...and you can have babies...
and orgies! and genocidal sacrifices to the dark side! and much much more! hehehe

you gay? no worries, your char can be gay too.
you a trannie? no worries, you can buy female clothes for your strapping young hero

...too much to go over :D
