Fable 2 Thread

I'm thinking Fable 2 as whole is a bit of an anti-climax. ;)
Peter Molyneaux should learn to shup up about his games - none of the Lionhead titles can live up to the hype he almost single-handedly creates.

I disagree. I like to hear his vision and see how close he gets. I guess I see it at a technical level, that sort of thing fascinates me. I "finished it" in 15-20 hours and enjoyed it thoroughly. Now I go back to see what quests I've still got and there's a good 10-15 hours more quests to do. and there's the co-op side and on top of that it's probably the only game I've ever really been interested in playing through a second time. I couldn't even be bothered with Gears 1. Add the potential for DLC (A whole new story perhaps?) and I'm quite happy with it.

My only annoyance is at the end of the story when you have to make the choice and if you don't chose the thing for the thing you're left without the thing which makes doing you know what really difficult. Because of it I can't finish Giles Farm without frustrating the crap out of myself, when in all honesty you should be able to buy a new one.

Know what I mean? ;)

That and an option for a higher difficulty level.

Hey, it's not a bad game by any means. I just felt that the deeper i got into Fable, the...less deep i found the experience to be. To me the true test of a games worth is how much it calls me to play it after the console's been switched off. Fable 2 whispered, Fallout 3 screamed.

yeah, i got you on that one. fable was becoming a monotonous button masher...seriously. all the aspects that were supposed to make it different, just ended up making it repetitive and boring..often times leavin you feeling "wtf??"

Fable 2 is really awesome in my opinion...nice game to just sit back and relax...I mostly like exploring the regions and such...

Wish they had more clothing options though...And my character is getting FAT!

Don't hate it just because you want to ;)

no seriously doobi, fanboism aside. I suppose all rpgs have been let downs to be lately and i've just become hard to please. its that call back feeling kerang was talking about. it was like that when i started fable 2; but the formula just became old quick. still a great looking game though

Strokes and folks. I must say I miss the complexity of something like Baldurs Gate. I'm hoping Sacred or Dragon Age will fill that gap. There's a good article on it, I think it's EDGE online about how Dev's have to stop treating consoles gamers as simple gamers because the controller is simple, it's a good read.

Well I got Fable 2 recently and I've already had 3 updates...wonder if all the "bugs" are fixed....hmmm

P.S - I don't really like how this console reads this game disc...heavy action for a optical drive IMO.

Sacred is nothing but a diablo cloned hack and slash. Dont get me wrong its fun, but its too simplistic. Bash this, hit that, get to X quest that requires fighting through more monsters than in L4D :(. Gimme a 5 hour learning curve please :D

I hear you but I don't like it when a game goes overboard on the learning curve and custom options such as Neverwinter Nights. Oblivion just has the right curve and options for me :)

Neverwinter Nights was legen... wait for it... dary! Seriously - Until now, I doubt there is a game that Bioware have done badly. And RPGs are supposed to be customization heavy - otherwise how would you distinguish your character from the next? Seriously?

Neverwinter Nights is another one of my favourites. Brilliant game, especially the last expansion pack.

Okay, so I finished Castle Fairfax last night, total game time 26 hours, and I still have about a dozen proper Quests to do - and that's with out doing any real jobs, ignoring the demon doors and only getting the Keys and Gargoyles I found on my way. That's also only doing the crucible once, flat out ignoring the shooting range, and the only legendary weapon I have is the katana. And before you say I must suck - I was only knocked down once ;)

Anyone who's complaining that it's short is making no effort to actually enjoy the game. either that or it's so much fun, the time just flies. ;)

Fable II Premium Downloadable Content

Lionhead Studios and Microsoft Game Studios Announce First Fable II Premium Downloadable Content

Fable II adventures continue with downloadable content and free pack to release mid-December 2008

The epic journey begun in Fable II, the fastest selling RPG on Xbox 360, is not over. Starting mid-December 2008, fans will be summoned back into Albion's service with the release of the Knothole Island downloadable content pack. The remote island of Knothole is dying: its golden sands and lush vegetation are covered with snow, its people freezing, its treasures buried. Only a hero can face the trials of the three shrines to bring back the sunshine.

Following its release on Xbox 360 on Oct. 21, more than 1.5 million units of Fable II flew off store shelves worldwide in the first two weeks, making it the most popular game, across all platforms, in the U.S. in October. With the release of the first Fable II downloadable content, available exclusively on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points, gamers will be invited to set sail for Knothole Island, where new quests, wondrous items and bizarre characters await.

Also in mid-December, fans everywhere will be able to enhance their Fable II experience with the release of a free Fable II downloadable pack exclusively on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. To engage in co-op gameplay with a player who has already downloaded the Knothole Island content, gamers will need to download the free pack. Both co-op players must download the Knothole Island (Premium) pack in order to play new quests and enjoy the complete Knothole Island co-op experience.

Free and premium downloaders will receive a show of gifts, including Knight's Boots, Assassins Gloves, a special Weight Loss Potion, collectible silver book and more. Players will also be able to check their standing in over 50 new Leaderboards on Lionhead.com.

As an additional treat for Fable II fans, Lionhead Studios and Microsoft Game Studios have created an all-new Albion dashboard theme in celebration of the launch of the New Xbox Experience. Fans who want to show off their Fable II pride can head over to Xbox LIVE Marketplace to download the Albion theme, available now for 250 Microsoft points.

Fable II is exclusively available on Xbox 360 and is rated “M” for Mature by the ESRB. Please visit: www.xbox.com/fable2 or www.lionhead.com/fable2 for more information.
