Facebook could make crypto mainstream

Facebook Inc., a centralized corporate giant with a history of customer data use controversies, is an unlikely candidate for bringing cryptocurrencies to the masses.

Yet many digital-assets enthusiasts are now hanging their hopes on the company’s new digital coin succeeding where Bitcoin has not. [Bloomberg]

They won't.

Cryptocurrency is the natural evolution of a banking system that is still rather archaic.

Email made sending "post" virtually costless.

Skype made phoning relatives across the world virtually costless.

Etc.

Don't be a Luddite :p

So is crypto going to make paying for things virtually costless? If not then we need to look at another system

No. It will make transaction costs virtually costless across countries.
I tried to send R150 in BTC to a overseas service last week and it cost R53.

You are biased as you have invested in crypto so your opinion is worth ****.

Can I speculate recklessly in the hopes of making a quick buck off it?

Well the Bitcoin lightning network is not live yet so to be expected. Use one of the alts...
And how long has that been in the works?

To confirm, you say currently it is not useful?

And the seedbox service wants BTC not some other dodgy crypto.

The whitepaper was published in 2016 so literally just a minute in crypto space.

I didn't say that at all.

Take it up with them then. My VPN provider supports all the major crypto's without much effort.

2016. Lol. Ok.

Then you will understand why cryptocurrency is the future.

Cryptocurrencies have way too many flaws still.
The only edge so far is that they duck and dive regulation, once they have to face the same regulations
then they become just as slow. SWIFT is not really that slow and thats the only cog it replaces.

Quick question, if it is so much the future why havent any of the major tech companies
or any major investors invested in it yet?
Why havent most retailers taken it up yet either?

The only people who seem to have adopted it is the black market.

There are also many other flaws with it like, how do you deal with natural inflation.
