This is one you guys have been wanting for a while -- Android's Facebook app finally has proper Facebook chat. And push notifications. Yes, Virginia, there really is a Santa Claus. You can get the Version 1.5.0 update now in the Android Market, and we've got download links after the break. Now excuse us while we pester some Facebook friends.

The push notifications are awesome :) ... suck it Blackberry users, now you have nothing on me!!! MWahahaha

Yeah I know ... I used to be a little jealous of some of the Blackberry social networking stuff, no reason to anymore ... the only standout feature on blackberry now is BBM, and only because it lets you know when people read your stuff. There is apps for android that does the same, but I dig gTalk.

Loving this update been chatting the from baby all morning thanks to the rain LOL

so how exactly do push notifications work? Won't it rape, murder and burn any evidence of my airtime balance?

When a message is sent to you, the server will send it to your device instantly, no need for your applications to troll the interwebs looking for messages that you may or may not have pending.

As for your airtime, Quite the contrary, it will save data, you phone wont have to use the network to look for messages every 15 minutes or whateva time intervals. Remember your device checks for messages whether there are any or not. Most importantly, battery life will be significantly enhanced with push messaging, as your device will be idle until stuff gets pushed to it.
