Facebook, Wal-mart sued over tech patents

The University of California and Eolas Technologies has filed a lawsuit against Facebook, Wal-Mart and Walt Disney Co. over patent infringement

A Facebook spokesman said the company believed the lawsuit was without hermit. “We will fight it vigorously,” he said.

What will lawyers think of next? Daughter is a partner in a big law-firm in London and she says the partners often talk about suggesting legal avenues to their clients to recover money from their competitors. One of their clients is Marks and Spencer and they have won several lawsuits (usually settled out of court) for similar advertising, product packaging, etc. They have an investigator who goes round stores like Sainsbury and buys products that M&S sell to see if anything has been cribbed.
