Everything is already in React, so it is a rewrite. And not just a bit of it, as the porting a component over from a class to a function is quite an in-depth process. However we haven't set aside explicit time to do it. We just do it whenever we work on a component.

I'm not sure FB being behind React is a selling point...

That is exactly why Zuckerberg and Facebook should never be trusted.

One day (some) people will start waking up and realising that they have been spending far too much time on social media, unnecessarily spewing out personal information, especially via apps installed on their phones, the FB apps in particular, and will start uninstalling all FB apps (including WhatsApp).

I actually don't recall Google having the "breaches" that FB did. Your data is mostly private and you can delete it. Their own social network was locked down by default where FB has you sharing as much personal information as possible.

Does it come preinstalled & locked down on some phones? I know I don't have that issue, fb, fb msg, whatsapp etc was not preinstalled.
 
Yup it does WhatsApp is the exception st the moment. But all the other FB rubbish can not be uninstalled, and on my wife's phone she can't even disable FB and Twitter as examples. And neither can you move those apps to the SD card, they run on the phones memory and that is it.

You can be having both of those now without waiting for adverts in WhatsApp which is definitely not the one messaging app to rule them all (and suckabergie will discover that when he unleashes the adverts).

You are their product, they provide you with one or more services that collect your data which allows their customers to target you with products, they don't get breaches because they don't leave their crown jewels unprotected.

Never argued about who is the product or not. Fact remains FB has these breaches because their platform is open by design. They didn't "accidentally" expose private data. The data is exposed by default and they just forgot about an area where it occurs.
