Facebook might buy browser maker Opera

As a business move this doesn't really make sense to me?

Unless they're after Opera's compression stuff and not the browser?

Dammit, I hope the Facebook ship sinks a lot faster than it is now. People are already slowly realising they pumped huge amounts of money into a company with no product, and little to no assests. It's only a matter of time before the pyramid scheme collapses.

Don't touch me on my studio. (Or my browser)

Nonononononononnononono nOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo

Facebook, go bust, get classed actioned to the teeth and join the other ponzie scheemster... do not pollute Opera.

Nononononononno !

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (gasp) OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

That will be possibly a great thing for opera the company and the browser because they'll get alot bigger with something like facebook behind them and all those ads in facebook/optimised for facebook etc the mainstream average joe will finally wakeup to realize that theres a great browser out there for your pc called opera...

...on the other hand its terrible news for me as I love opera just the way it is now and facebook will most likely mess it up with social network intergrated bullsh*t etc etc!

One can only imagine what Facebook will do to it...

Based on their android app, Opera will refuse to load properly, pictures will be unavailable, it will force close and will come with unnecessary crap and piss you off to no end

Facebook will probably put the damn ads back Opera removed so long ago.

Yes, what is so embarrassing about Facebook is although they technically have so much information on you the "intelligent" ads are so far off the mark which is probably why they have such a low click rate. I think they basically go "male, show dating app" - I am actually surprised we don't get SPAMMED with penis enlargement and home loan offers at this point.

Suppose they want to make the mobile app generate some ad revenue and are trying to figure out how to go about it.

One day Facebook will start buying countries too.

I doubt it.

Facebook has peaked.

With public shareholding they are going to be pressured in raising revenue, and as a result will become more and more intrusive. That itself is going to drive people away.
