Facebook Phone

No wonder Facebooks wants its own phone: http://techcrunch.com/2013/04/03/apps-vs-mobile-web/

Facebook has become the web browser/interface of choice and beats other mobile browsers on phones as the portal to the web. Tomorrow we will see what this new Facebook phone running Android and made by HTC looks like.

Ummm, I think you have failed to read what the article puts forward. Facebook is not the web browser/interface of choice. It is just something that people spend a lot of time using, on their phones.

I would never ever buy a Facebook phone, and I doubt too many people would tbh.

The UI looks good. I'm not sure what is the point of this phone. I loathe Facebook personally though so I wouldn't.

Ummm, what does this then mean: "... the large proportion of time spent inside the Facebook app is down to users viewing web content from inside Zuckerberg’s walled garden."?

Web Content, as in pictures, videos etc that are posted by their friends and such, not web browsing.

I'm surprised you don't know the difference.

As shown in the OP after games most people spend time on Facebook on both Apple and Android devices. Facebook wants more of the action and HTC desperately needs something to differentiate itself from other Android OEM's. This will be good for both Facebook and HTC. If Facebook is as important to mobile users as the stats show then better and more prominent FB integration is what a lot of people will want.

We that loathe Facebook may not appreciate this but I know a lot of people who practically lives inside Facebook.

Given the very poor quality of their Android & iPhone Apps, I don't foresee much future for an entire phone.

A phone is in the end a social interaction device ... and Facebook is the current ultimate form of social interaction. So, I get why this is happening. If Facebook are to include some exclusive FB features in this phone it may just ignite a want/need.

Thing is yeah, ok, but they could accomplish the same by just releasing a Facebook launcher. Since that's pretty much all this is.

Whu-oh, lookit who just nailed it!!!!!

Facebook Home - a full Android takeover.
