Facebook shared user data with Huawei

Facebook Inc. said it had data-sharing partnerships with four Chinese consumer-device makers, including Huawei Technologies Co., escalating concerns that the social network has consistently failed to tell users how their personal information flows beyond Facebook.

The disclosure came after Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said earlier Tuesday that he saw "a serious danger" that Facebook shared user information with Chinese device makers.

Geesus who else has SlutBook not farmed our personal data out to?

Why are people even still surprised by this?

When you on social media you have no privacy.

I work in IT, have been since late 80's
I reject the "you have no privacy line".

Using a service doesn't commit you to exposing every aspect of your personal life to all and sundry!

more correctly,

when you are on social media, and stupidly share everything, you become a target.

rather close down what you have, or post deliberately wrong info, or be fully aware of what you share,

if you take privacy seriously, and dont do something dumb, your quite safe, problem comes from all those that post all and sundry about themselves online.
opening themselves to script kiddie attacks ect...

wish there was some way of seeing what exactly there is about you floating around?
I know you can run a google search on yourself, but Id love to see what else is out there, based on real information,

the paranoid tin foil hat is itching quite a bit now.

Same

Agree but things changed. Using facebook for example, you know your details will be shared. That is how the make money.

Hence I agree with Sugarman. Using social media this stage = share your info. Don't upload/post what you don't want to shared. Even if you think it's private.

Privacy don't exist on these sites.

My issue is around exactly what info they share and whether they have made it patently clear to the uninformed or non tech savvy amongst us.

What I'm taking about is abuse...corporate or goverment.
No need to lecture me about personal info (that includes off the internet as well...real life) ;)

I go with, it's upload to a site, it's shared.
