Facebook uproar over facial recognition tagging feature

And how easy is the feature going to make it for stalkers/private investigators. They take a photo of their person of interest, upload it and have Facebook suggest the tag. From the tag, get their profile. Wala, know you have more info for you to plan your next move. Scary!

Pretty sure this only works if you are friends with the person.
 
solution: make sure you pull funny faces every time someone takes a picture of you.
 
It's happening. I've commented on this in other threads. Google is also into this (although they will deny it). All this is going hurt people big time in future. Mark my words.
 
It would be so much easier if Facebook had all their default features set as private. Then they could go wild and introduce these features and leave it for the user to change them if they so wished.

I agree, I think it is quite useful! But it is hardly accurate. A friend of mine uploaded a pic of Jack Black and it tagged me as the person in the photo! :D
Funny thing is... it was Jack Black from Nacho Libre... and he was wearing the mask! WTH?

Esp with Picasa in mind, they been slowly linking people's faces to names, its just not in the open but the tech has been used for years already to link people's faces to the actual users.
