...did Alistair Fairweather watch JQ? I wonder ;)

Alistair Fairweather is Naive in underestimating the companies growth possibilities in sales without facebook.
FB will probably do the right thing in the end, but the kickstarter people should be treated as investors and get their money.

It could have been way worse? It could've been way better as well, if for instance Google bought it, I'd be pretty confident in the Oculus VR as a product as well as it's development. Can't wait to play a farmville!

I don't think that Facebook is a terrible backer. From my limited reading, I'm lead to believe that FB lets acquisitions follow their own path and doesn't impose major corporate restrictions on their visions. I think that they simply invested in something they thought is going to take off and is an indicator that VR will be the next best thing.

Given the size of the investment, I feel that now Oculus Rift can be go beyond gaming and focus on other applications. Operating systems, tele-presence, therapy and many opportunities beyond fun and relaxation.

Yes, there is no president for that. There is no reason they should assume that FB is going to ruin it.

The reason they bought OR is its a different type of business to FB
