Can anyone point me to a documented medically supported instance of somebody healed by faith.

In that before the healing there was a medically certified disease/handicap and after the faith healing it was medically certified as being healed ?

I am sure there are many.

The problem is they are not correlated. For example, I may have leukemia, someone prays for me, and I get better. There is no evidence that the prayer worked - people just sometimes get better all by themselves.

In simpler terms, if I pray to win the Lottery, and I win - that is not proof that the prayer worked (except of course if I did not buy a ticket - har har!).

EDIT: That post may seem pointless - but remember that the entire world of religious fanboois will jump on a case like that and use it as incontrovertible "proof".

^^^^and that's exactly the reason also that you can't put forwards a case as incontrovertible proof, because somebody else will claim that there is no necessary correlation.

The placebo effect? A positive attitude can do wonders...
Spirituality and resilience...
Greeff AP, Joubert AM. Spirituality and resilience in families in which a parent has died. Psychol Rep. 2007 Jun;100(3 Pt 1):897-900.

The semistructured interviews supplied evidence that a relationship between spirituality and family resilience does indeed exist.

Positivity and spirituality two factors that can possibly unlock the resilience of the body.

A senior Italian prelate claims that a young man in his diocese was miraculously cured of lung cancer after his wife saw the Pope in a dream.

Not exactly convincing is it - but I did find this:-

NO CURE OF ORGANIC DISEASE BY FAITH HEALING, COMMISSION FINDS; English Clerical and Medical Committee, After Long Investigation, Reports That No Such Cure Was Proved But Admits Power of Suggestion by "Healers."

I just want one.
Let's make it easy - an example where god has "healed" an amputee. Why does god hate amputees? He seems to heal cancers and seemingly the most dire diseases but never has a limb, finger or any amputation regenerated.

See: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article1072638.ece
Praying for the health of strangers who have undergone heart surgery has no effect, according to the largest scientific study ever commissioned to calculate the healing power of prayer.

In fact, patients who know they are being prayed for suffer a noticeably higher rate of complications, according to the study, which monitored the recovery of 1,800 patients after heart bypass surgery in the US.

The findings of the decade-long study were due to be published in the American Heart Journal next week, but the journal published the report on its website yesterday as anticipation grew.

The power of intercessory prayer has been studied by doctors for years in America, but with no conclusive results. This $2.4 million study, funded in large part by the John Templeton Foundation, which seeks "insights at the boundary between theology and science", was intended to cast some clear light on the matter.

Those that know the Templeton Foundation will know that it is a Christian Creationist Foundation

Not sure about amputees in general, but he sure does have a penis fetish.

Deuteronomy 23:1
He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

Pity God doesnt cure amputees, and the people who have things like cancer and stuff, who pray to God and thank him for 'saving' him, never seem to give the same amount of praise to the doctors that actually did all the work.

Here is my 2 cents on this matter. I could be horribly wrong though…

I think the greatest problem with faith healing is faith, or the lack there of.
Jesus said that if your faith were to be as big as a mustard seed you could tell a mountain to fall over into the sea in it would obey.

When Jesus walked on the sea towards the boat of his disciples, Peter asked if he can also stand on the water with him, he got out of the boat and was doing fine for a moment but started doubting and began to sink. (Matthew 14:22-33)

Jesus did many miracles, even when his disciples were unable to heal someone he could. He had the perfect faith. He could command nature and weather, he healed all illnesses, cured the blind, paraplegic people were able to walk and he even resurrected people from the dead.

I think that praying for someone’s limbs to grow back would require allot faith. It’s like jumping from a 15 story building and trying to believe that you’ll land on your feet without a scratch. You jump, the moment you realize that the ground is coming at you faster than a speeding train, doubt sets in and you are in big trouble (kind of like The Matrix :D lol!). No one I have head of had such great faith except for Jesus.

Never heard of anyone’s amputated limbs growing back on? Then have a look at:

"Carole kicking Satan in the teeth with her new leg!"

some people i have to applause for their imagination. I can quite guarantee that she will be tailing it if the real deity or prince of darkness would have been invoked

-some has this weird romatic idea of commanding forces beyond them, if most of it are not just in their heads

Well I suppose so. It's her new prosthesis.

I guess that only in a church or mosque or crystal healing center does thinking your stump has grown a few milimeters equate to having a limb grown back.

So I think cool, someone has grown a limb back? WICKED! So I go to this lame ass website and click on the "Absolute Proof!" "medical documents" link to verify that this just was not another religious person lying to themselves and the world.. and like.... I get

"page not found"

Yeah me 2. I have 'Absolute Proof' on how to win the lotto. Send me 10 bucks and I will give you a page not found link.

Why does faith healing only happen in these charismatic churches? I think the "sick" were placed there. If anyone else were to ask to be healed, and it does not happen, (as I expect), the minister would just say "your faith is not strong enough". A perfect "scam"...

^^ I would suggest that most real healings don't take place in those environments. More often than not if they happen, it is in a more hidden context. God isn't fond of ostentation, I think.
