False advertising: Boerewors

How about the labeling on products? Shoprite is selling "Boerewors" that states on the label that it contains pork but when you investigate there is no pork in it. and on the champion boerewors they have changed the winning recipe by using other ingredients but still claim that it is the same product. To me that is not only false labeling but outright fraud.

How do you know there's no pork in it? Checkers' championship boerewors has always been a fraud. If you eat Checkers wors I guess you can tolerate anything though.

Who buys meat, especially wors, from a supermarket? You must have some kind of death wish. Moreso buying from Checkers. All I buy from them is my wine.

Never experienced this. Maybe it is masked by their vrot seafood section smells? Nearly threw up the other day. Sushi chef ( aka fishtrawler expat) didn't seem to notice.........

Anyway...buy your wors and meat from a butcher, people. Supermarkets are for canned goods 'n' stuff.

It has to do with the beef and fat content. I think Boerewors is something like 90% beef and then fat... If it is less, then it isn't boerewors... (I could be wrong on the exact % though)

So true. Checkers Grey Owl and Hyper in centurion smells like an abandoned abattoir. Will never buy meat or fish from them. Been using the same butcher for more than 20 years. Best wors in the country.

This seems to be common Checkers problem of bad meat and fish.
Bought meat from Checkers once for a short notice braai, got to the braai open the pack and it was vrot

First and last Checkers meat buy, was marinated pork ribs from their Sea Point branch...After, 10 min in the oven, there was the smell of "ripe" meat in the air! ...enough said!
