False advertising: Boerewors

270mm might be a tad overkill.

Instant mince!

You never ever buy marinated meat anywhere, they marinade it because it's borderline off. Was looking at meat the other day and the marinaded stuff was was cheaper than the other stuff. My one mate worked in a shop and the butcher explained it all to him. Never buy marinated meat, especially poultry.

Used to be like that at restaurants as well, anything marinaded or coated was probably almost due to be thrown away. Don't know if it's still like that, but this was in the late 90s.

Step one regarding good boerewors is to taste it raw. If you can not stomach that then it is not worth eating. The wors I buy from my butchet i have to get into the freezer as soon as possible, otherwise half a kilo will disappear down the family's throats. You will taste the crap if you test it raw.

What gets me about boerewors these days, is the amount of fat in the product. You do not really notice it, when you braai...but once you do the old pan on the stove routine....I now pierce the living **** out of the casing towards the end of cooking, as to liberate as much of the fat...

The best boerewors was the ones that was made back in the day, on the farm. Meat from stock that were slaughtered, spices and casings from Crown Mills,...flavour rich in coriander!

How do you know there's no pork in it? Checkers' championship boerewors has always been a fraud. If you eat Checkers wors I guess you can tolerate anything though.

Lol +1
