Am I right to say that WebAfrica falsely advertise the prices of their services here on the forum.

They state that you can het hosting which includes SQL Server 2005 and ASP.Net 2 from R130pm. I have that package and I pay R148.20 pm.

The reason for the diffirence is that the R130 is excl, but it is nowhere stated on the add.

My question. Can I really then go to them and ask for the service @ R130 pm because they advertise it at R130 pm and not R148.2 pm???

R130 + VAT = R148.20
They have to specify * VAT exclusive on the offers by law else R130 can be assumed to be VAT inclusive

Subject: WebAfrica advert on MyADSL

Hello,

Your WebAfrica advert on the MyADSL forums that proclaims "SQL Server 2005 and ASP.Net 2 from R130". This falls under false advertising because you do not include any mention of the VAT (IE R130 Excl VAT).

We have some R249pm accounts hosted with you. Please fix this issue or we will move our accounts over to another provider in boycott.

Regards

I sent them this... :D

afaik, companies are not allowed to advertise goods excl VAT in this country. i think it's disgraceful in any event. worth mentioning that an advertisment is merely an "invitation to do business" so i doubt you could legally hold them to the deal.

Hi All

I have sent this thread off to our team who in turn too can maybe answer this all to you.

In the interim our sincere apologies might there have been any mislead advertising or mis-communication from our part.

To answer Supersunbird however, you should also take note that the ad reads From, thus in regard to the package Mieliespoor holds (this package being the first in referral to our reference: From) whereas the package held by Supersunbird is only later in that list (being the more expensive option)

As previously stated however, I have mailed this thread on the the appropriate parties to have a look at once they are available :)

Hi

We changed all our prices and advertising to include VAT many months ago to fall in line with what consumers expect.

We have tons of advertising online and print with including VAT prices, and looks like this old Ad has slipped through - I do apologise and the intention is never to mislead customers.

I've asked RPM to pull it immediately.

Furthermore we extend an invitation to anyone on that particular package to contact billing and will we adjust it to be discounted to the EX VAT price.

Thanks to MillieSpoor for bringing it to our attention. :)

I must say I have respect for Web Africa, I often read their replies in these forums when people have questions or complaints. It shows that they are actually working at their Customer Service. They have my vote of approval :D

Customer service?

Should be Customer Centric service with a star! :D

Kudos to the people who work to satisfy their customers!

I for one have had no complaints with WA. Excellent service, good prices, helpful forum members.

:D

Hi

I must say that I cannot say a bad word about WebAfrica!!

I actually didn't post this to get a discount. The only reason I posted this was because I though a couple of week ago when I first saw the add that I can get a cheaper deal from WA than the one they have me on at the moment, only to find that the one they advertise is the one I am on...So I wanted to save other people from finding that the R130 package does not exist but is R148.

Anyways, great service and heads up to WA!

I wish Telkom can learn from WA how to treat customers and how fast a complaint should be solved!!

I had a similar experience with WA.

They made a mess of my ADSL account, corrected it and sent me a credit note as apology.

Seems to be a habit to acknowledge if they made a mistake and do something about it.

PS: Next time, don't send a credit note, just add complimentary PrePaid - it takes a lot of trouble to get a credit note through the accounts, and it took a lot of explaining as the taxman would not believe that this kind of service was possible when they did an audit:D

Yep yep couldnt agree more~
I just got a 10gig local account from them, almost used half of it on international torrent :D
