Three times more people are killed in SA in a single year than the number of people killed in the Iraq war over the last three years.
The average South-African can do nothing to combat crime. I already do not steal from others or murder. The only remaining option is to spread awareness in the International community in the hope "we" can get refugee status on the grounds that we fear for our lives. "We" should leave before SA turns in to the next Zimbabwe. I'm aware that it is an unrealistic hope to get refugee status, but we can try and maybe the West will make it easier for us to move there.

So you're saying that people who protest and oppose the government are criminals?
Do we even have a stadium that can host it yet? If we don't, I'd bet that some part of whatever gets built is going to collapse due to cost cutting (read: cat fattening) measures put in place by whichever relative of a politician gets the contract. Check the attention South-Africa will get in international press and lawsuits then!
Shame. And we wonder why we have highest death rate, highest crime rate, highest road deaths, highest telco rates, highest aids deaths, highest orphan rate. Ja, it is because jontyB is jealous.
Shame, and shame again. What is it going to take for this government and its cronies to get a clue?

a) I think you meant to say "that people like President Thabo Mbeki are so well received.."
b) Just a little reality check. South Africa may be important, relative to the 'rest of Africa' -
but out in the real world - namely the larger US/EU/Asia global community - it hardly gets
mentioned at all. It's an outlying provincial village at the bottom end of a generally blurred
and messy news-wise continent..
Its dangerous to argue from a position of 'over-inflated sense of self importance'.
Some distant clowns having a pie fight, doesn't warrant much attention. As for the 2010
event, again, some sports fans and advertisers will pay attention for a while, then the
locale will slump back to the bottom of the news cycles, if it features at all.
So whether the clowns get things together or not, in the larger scheme of things, its not
going to make much different to the world community.

In reality, they don't think of the place. My mom spent the day in Cape Town before she realized that I was referring to South Africa as a seperate country from the rest of Africa!!! They are just tired of hearing the complaining that comes out of this continent...

I only hope Escom can deliver sufficient power to build the Stadions, also cement is required and what do the BEE and AA know about Power stations and the building of stadions ? The only inventions so far are new city and street names, which are also very expensive, even if you have never build it.

Murray and Roberts/ Grintek will most probably contract the stadiums. As for Escom, they have invested billions to upscale the capacity, therefore you can relax for there 'll be enough power. We are going to host an exellent world cup. I am hoping to make **** loads of money leading up to 2010. I can only rejoice at the prospect....
I keep hearing this, could you please provide some info on eskom's plans, timelines and how far along the process they are?

yep , the plan is very simple, as soccer seems to be a priority in this country over everything else. In times of power shortage, Eskom will simply route power from residences and business's to "more important" areas ie. soccer stadiums.
Oh and when calculating how many millions WC2010 has brought the country, just remember to nett off how much was lost, thanks to our efficient friends at Eskom.

did u not know that it doesnt take much knowledge for a BEE company to sub contract to an established company, just depends which one is willing to be the most helpful ie. Merc ML's etc . wink, wink , ya know what i mean.
During the WC, there will be generators on standby at the stadiums. It is a FIFA standard that was enforced even in Germany.
So that is eskom's plan? Have generators at the stadiums?
it's a FIFA plan, not just for SA's 2010. Guys common now even us here at work we have an energy centre with generators that can keep going for as long as 24 hours, it's a contigency that most entities undertake if they are serious about remaining in business. Fifa is just as serious about their business hence they never leave anything to chance!

FOR SURE, generators are given, but given the realibility factor related to Eskom, we are allowed to doubt their ability to keep the lights on.
