- You have 5 activations on 3 separate PCs.
- Uninstalling the game "refunds" an activation. This process is called "revoke", so as long as you complete proper uninstall you will be able to install the game an unlimited number of times on 3 systems.
- You can upgrade your computer as many time as you want (using our revoke system)
- Ubisoft is committed to the support of our games, and additional activations can be provided.
- Ubisoft is committed to the long term support of our games: you'll always be able to play Far Cry 2.

Does that mean you need to have an internet connection to activate the game?

Yeah you do. Crysis Warhead uses a similar if not identical system. I activated it over my cell phone, using it as a modem hooked to the computer. It was a tiny amount of data, so I wasn't worried. Like under a hundred kilobytes.

It really is simple and quick. Beats trying to crack the thing and deal with mini and mxi images and all that weird stuff.

Oh boy...

What if I format my machine?

Is that counted as a 'proper uninstall' ?

I doubt it very much, I think it connects again to free up the activation - so you will be down(-1) an activation.

@gdiza

Well,no.

You would have to uninstall the game using its uninstall exe file. You would also have to be online when performing the uninstall. This would then send an uninstall notification to a server, which would keep track of how many you have. So, just uninstall the game before you format.

It doesnt really matter though, because honestly, who ever needs to install the same game more than 5 times. I dont think Iv ever installed a game more than 3 or 4 times.

As long as the game doesnt install dodgy super secret DRM files into my registry that can never be removed and cause issues with my OS (ala Spore, EA were sued for this), im happy

Maybe I'll give FC2 a skip or get a cracked copy...

I'm not going to inconvience myself just to make make them feel better.

I format my machine (which I do alot, bout twice a year) and lose out on a install?

Stuff that!

It takes about 3 minutes to uninstall a game mate.
If you dont want to spend the R350 then just say so

LOL

GDI its hardly like they are asking you to take hours out of your time, as said it's 3 minutes to uninstall, then you can reload your pc.

^^ i hope so man, Im sure they will if there is enough support.

Oh and @gdiza, in my experience, getting a cracked game working, with patches etc, downloading it or even copying it from a friend is far more "inconvenient" than what Farcry2 are asking for (a simple uninstall)

And you cant patch pirated games which is super lame, unless you go lookinf for the cracked patch, which is just annoying.

Compared to pirating, what Ubisoft are asking us to do is a breeze

For sure tinman, damn trying to get a game working that is illegal is often a good few hours lol.

I hope they have a multiplayer element, time for a new legend multiplayer game :)

If your going to format your machine just uninstall the game. It only take a few minutes. Its going to take 10x that to rebuild your machine!

noob question time - how/when do you have to connect to the net to activate? After the installation? Before a game? During a game (in game menu)? any info please chaps :D

LOL Mephisto, I think that won't be possible until the game gets released, so just be patient a little while longer (24 October). If I had to guess, it would be just after the game has been installed ;)
