Faraday Future unveils Tesla-beating race car

The Model S P90D does 0-100km in 2.8 seconds.
Faradays FFZER01 doesn't seem much better, and it is much uglier
 
Sure, sure.. A one-seater race car built to compete with a four-door, family saloon.

Someone read the brief wrong.
 
So its a purpose built race car that can JUST beat a road going Tesla...

Well done Faraday you win.
 
There has been a lot of concept cars that could 'beat' Tesla in the past, however none of them is in mass-production and visible in the real world being used on the roads.

Is it really then a Tesla-"killer"?
 
They have a great logo. I'll give them that.

I was just thinking this. Plus the P90D is a proper car that can hold 5 people and lots and lots of luggage. And Tesla's cars have the best safety in the world.
 
I think it's just a proof of concept or a show of power really to illustrate that they mean serious business.

Very keen to see how their "subscription car" thing works out.
 
vapourware is all it is so far. Come back when you have a working prototype at least, guys.
 
I thought speed and acceleration was never a problem for ev's.
The problem is range.
2 lap races??
 
I love the concept, but i can see practical issues with it.

Primarily is how do you get the vehicle that the customer wants to the customer when they want it?
When the customer no longer wants the vehicle who retrieves it?
Where will all these vehicles be stored when they aren't being used?

Well self driving cars aside, where do you normally get cars?

At the dealership of course.

The Uber "mobility" version aside I think the idea is rather that you wouldn't need to be stuck in a single type of car for years on end and just imagine what it would be like to park your car at the airport and take "your" car again on the other side.

It will know all your likes//dislikes and your taste in music as well as your passengers and only play stuff you both like etc.
 
Well yeah self driving would solve 95% of my "issues" with their idea...

And yeah, its mostly relating to the Uber "mobility" version. Where you can get a car for a short period of time to just do the job you need it to do. If it was a case of paying your subscription fee, and then being able to swap the car at a dealership yourself, it would make considerably more sense. It still has a few issues in terms of supply and demand of specific types of vehicles etc, but it makes more sense currently.
