My very first site was on geocities I won an award for the design and everything. Was a Diablo guild/tips site

I remember GeoCities fondly... The beginning of the "personal" internet.

A sad day indeed as I also started out in geocities. My interest in the internet and how it works (which has lead me to my current career) also started there.

Question: is there still a demand for creating your home page, like geocities? Or is everyone too busy with social networks?

Geocities was the Web 2.0 Facebook and MySpace is now.

You'll find if you're a band that you'll probably go with MySpace and a Facebook Fan page. Numbers speaks for themselves.

I'm not surprised that they shut down Geocities.
