Farm Attacks

The drilling machines, the tortures. It's all about sending a message.

I’m getting to the point where these attacks are orchestrated to send a message to these communities. I only hope that the guard is okay and that he will recover.

I've been of that opinion for a while now.

These attacks are not just ''normal'' crimes and shouldn't be viewed and treated as such. There is more to it.

Some of them have motives other than economic crime, but you really can't apply a blanket over all of them. In this case it may have been between them and the guard. In other cases it relates to land or grazing pasture disputes but most of them appear to be criminals intent on robbery often with info/involvement of (former) employees.

There's reasons why they put blinkers on race horses. It's to keep their view on the forced target and not stray towards reality. Thus when you do not want to see the truth you may as well wear you own mental blinkers.

Says the one with the blinkers.... because all he said there are varied reasons. Sometimes it's just normal crime, other times it's definitely more than that, some hate or vengeance filled event.

2 farm attacks in Free State over weekend

Bloemfontein – A Clocolan farmer was shot and wounded in an attack on his farm near the Lesotho border on Sunday, Netwerk24 reported on Monday.

The attackers had been waiting for Nicky Haddad, of the farm Howie, near the Peka Bridge border post, when he returned home from town.

It was one of two farm attacks in the Free State at the weekend and follows a spate of violent attacks on farmers recently.

The attacks came just days before Tuesday’s first debate in Parliament on farm murders.

Police spokesperson Captain Phumelelo Dhlamini said Haddad was attacked as he was parking his car around 14:00 on Sunday. Two men ran out from behind the garage and shot him in the left arm and right leg.

Cellphone stolen

All the attackers stole was a cellphone belonging to an unidentified woman who was with Haddad. She was not hurt. The attackers fled on foot.

Police are investigating a case of attempted murder. No arrests had been made.

The chairperson of Free State Agriculture’s (FSA) law and order committee, Tommie Esterhuyse, said Haddad was treated in the Clocolan Hospital. His condition was not critical.

Esterhuyse said the attackers fled into mountainous terrain on their way to the Lesotho border.

According to Esterhuyse, a car arrived on the farm just after the attack, but sped away. They suspect the attackers were going to use it as getaway car.

He said in the other attack in the province at the weekend, two farm workers were assaulted on the farm Heuningspruit, near Kroonstad. The attackers stole solar panels and farm equipment.

Esterhuyse said it was time to stand together and help the police in their fight against farm attacks and crime. There is good co-operation between FSA and the police, he added. A senior member of the police’s field office was on the scene soon after Haddad was attacked

'More dangerous to be a farmer than a police officer in SA'

Cape Town - It is more dangerous to be a farmer than a police officer in SA, a debate on farm murders heard on Tuesday in the National Assembly.

Opening the discussion, which quickly turned into a race row, FF Plus MP Pieter Groenewald said there had been a decrease in farm murders because farmers were forced to protect themselves.

He said he understood that farm attacks did not only target whites, but that black farmers were also victims.

He also gave examples of horrific crimes against white farmers in the country, before asking for a moment of silence.

"If you look at the numbers, it is almost more dangerous to be a farmer than to be a police officer in the country," he said.

Cope leader Mosiuoa Lekota got a standing ovation from a few members in the gallery when he said the right narrative on farm murders had to come from Parliament.

To stop what was going on in the country, MPs had to act like the elected leaders that they were.

He condemned President Jacob Zuma's call for expropriation of land without compensation, despite what was in the Constitution.

"When we say things that mislead our people into attacking each other, we are the prime source of the problem. Here we have someone who is telling people they are going to take land without compensation, someone who lacks political backbone," he said.

Lekota slammed some politicians such as Julius Malema, who has called for land expropriation without compensation.

"We cannot keep quiet when [EFF leader Julius] Malema stands on platforms and swears at some sections of the population, threatening them and saying they must wait until he comes into power. Men and women of backbone must speak so that our children are not misled."

'Vomiting on forgiveness'

Agang MP Andries Plouamma raised the ire of MPs when he called on "white farmers to stop vomiting on the forgiveness of black people".

He was accused of gross racial stereotyping when he said white farmers should "minimise their arrogance".

The EFF detailed the attacks on black farm workers in recent years, issues the FF Plus had overlooked, MP Hlengiwe Mkhalipi said.

This included the recent case of a farm worker who was forced into a coffin, and the worker who was shot and injured with a pellet gun, while riding a bicycle, because he had been "mistaken for a monkey".

"Black people have to endure the violence of poverty," she said.

DA MP Annette Steyn said farm murders were becoming so common that people did not bat an eyelid anymore when someone was murdered.

During 2015/16, a total of 18 673 murders were recorded - an average of 51.2 murders per day, she said.

"We may disagree with the reasons for [farm] murders, some may say it is because farmers mistreat their workers or because 'they stole our land', but we have to agree that the torture of any person by another is inhumane and barbaric."

Police Minister Nathi Nhleko said all lives mattered and farm murders were a concern just like all killings. He had no desire to trivialise the killings and attacks on farms, he said.

He detailed some of their successes in decreasing farm murders.

"A loss of life is one too many. These statistics are by no means celebratory," he said.

According to Mike Smith:
According to the Afrikaans Newspaper in an article “Here laat ek maklik gaan” (Lord , let me go easily) this woman was tortured with an electric drill, a knife and a plastic bag in a modern day crucifixion ritual. The Democratic Alliance named her as Nicci Simpson (64, but according to other reports 60). The bastards also killed three of her dogs. Police confirmed one dog killed.

Simpson sustained serious injuries to her feet, knees, and hands, and several ribs were broken.

This has all the hallmarks of the Mau Mau terrorist attacks of Kenya but look how the media downplays it as a simple robbery and call these TERRORISTS “robbers”. What did they steal? A cell phone, a firearm and a vehicle that they drove 300m (another report says 1km) and then abandoned.

The cell phone for intelligence gathering about who her friends are and where they can attack next and the firearm for killing more farmers, but why leave the most expensive piece, the vehicle behind?

Intruder killed during North West farm attack

Potchefstroom – An alleged intruder was killed during an apparent farm attack in Roodekraal, Potchefstroom, on Thursday morning, North West police said.

A gardener saw three men approach the farm house at 08:00 and raised the alarm, spokesperson Lt-Col Pelonomi Makau said.

The gardener’s son informed the domestic worker and they tried to close all the doors to the house. One intruder however managed to make his way inside, where the 72-year-old farm owner confronted him.

During their confrontation, the man was shot dead. His alleged accomplices ran away.

No arrests have been made and police are investigating.

lol then just leave. Why do you need someone to make a deal on your behalf. Don't have an education, well get one, you also had 27 years. Moaning that you want free stuff makes you exactly the same as any EFF/ANC member that wants free land.
Some of us like it here, I have a nice comfy life. If you can't even make something of yourself here why do you think you would have any success in Europe? A lot of us are working on the security problem. Farmers that need help sould only ask for it.
