Well, black farm workers and far more isolated, black farmers are murdered too. The attackers are mostly young black men. Horrific torture is commonplace, often only a cellphone or even nothing stolen. So what the **** do you think is really going on ? The Broederbond utilizing alien technology to transplant concepts in potential rightwingers heads to destabilize a prosperous, safe, clean, orderly, functional country with first class service delivery to install a communist regime ?

A lot of farm murderers do get arrested, has anyone bothered to go interview some of the ones willing to try find out why they resort to torture. My layman opinion is that they torture their vics to try extract info on valuables and weapons. Can't rule out the possibility that some of the torture is just sadistic revenge on farmers for perceived previous slights as I suspect a lot of these crimes are committed by former employees.

But its is calculated per 100 000 not just the amount of murders. You need the total of the farmer population to then divide it. And with smallholdings it gets rather tricky because the towns expansion sometimes with no clear border of what is town and what not. Then other rural murders and farmworkers... It ends up being complete guesswork so it makes sense that the figures would differ.

Who knows.

Why are people making an issue about farm murders when things are just as bad in the townships... basically because they believe the lives of farmers are more important.

Side note: My personal opinion is that all lives are equal and yes I do think its a problem that farmers are leaving the profession and farms are closing down. Farm murders may be a major factor in that.

Its an emotive issue because "Farm Murders" have been happening for 400 years (in this context)

Of course, young men raping 80+ year old ladies and torturing elderly men is the symptom of our (perceived or otherwise) racist,uncouth, unfair, quasi-fascist boers getting what they had coming to them. The murder gangs target their former employers and then continue to others for good measure, such is the extent of the perceived previous slights.

They're just easy targets for them to prove some sort of sick point, unfortunately: isolated (usually) old, defenceless people. I think it's time for the Kommandos to make a comeback - the government isn't doing anything to protect the farmers, maybe they will

Government won't allow the Kommandos to come back, even though it is the only real solution.

IMO the concept of an organised and armed force terrifies them.

I'm sure if they're willing to pay for it, the farmers can set up or contract an armed security service. Government will never agree to fund a militia they have no control over to protect a fraction of the population.

I'm pretty sure that the old Government had full control over the Kommandos.

I will leave it up to you to speculate as to why the ANC wouldn't be able to control them, or to think that it wouldn't be able to control them.

I know of farmers who have used armed security services to protect their farm produce from large-scale theft, but the cost is prohibitive, so it is not really feasible.

The Kommandos were volunteers, so the costs were low.

The illogic in this is astounding. Yes, all lives are equal but not all lives output the same amount of economic value to the overall population.
The murders against a specific profession because they are isolated costs the country millions in terms of GDP because farmers have a positive impact on things as food prices. The more they produce, the less food costs.
The time it takes to educate any one person or family to take the place of the lost farmer and family is a huge cost to South Africa and will eventually hike food prices as their produce becomes less and less.
A farm that produces nothing because it's owners are dead, means that the farm workers are also unemployed and their lives are ruined as they move to informal settlements to try and move closer to work opportunities.

Deceased estates can take years to resolve and the victims are far more than just the people who are murdered.

But once again, stupid people are making it about race.

But in my humble opinion if the kommandos come back I am sure there will be many black volunteer's included. The government and police are useless.

Bulwer farm murder: Man doused in petrol, set alight

Durban – The killing of a man in his mid-60s on Wednesday brings the number of farm murders in the Bulwer/Underberg area of KwaZulu-Natal to three for 2017.

The man was alleged to have been sitting on the veranda of the house on the farm Tatoon, in Bulwer, when he was approached by an unknown number of suspects at about 7pm on Wednesday night, dragged into his home, doused with petrol and set alight.

Police confirmed the incident, but were not willing to yet provide a name.
Director at Berg Protection Services, Brett Deavin, who was one of those responding to the incident, said that the charred remains were “not something we have seen before”.

Deavin said: “He was beyond all recognition. I have seen a lot of farm killings, but nothing like this.”

You have to hold a serious grudge to be motivated to poor petrol over someone and burn them alive, fark that's rough.
