Only kak things around here are the students, the traffic and the crime. Ignore that and it's a lovely town. Many things to do just an uber ride away.
 
Manager 'thrown into fire' during violent 'farm invasion' in KZN

A farm manager in KwaZulu-Natal was hospitalised with burns on Saturday after "violent thugs" invaded a farm, set it alight and allegedly threw him into the flames.


IFP MP Inkosi Bhekizizwe Luthuli revealed details about the incident in a statement on Sunday on behalf of the Mathulini Communal Property Association.


“The perpetrators of this violent and unlawful act are part of the ‘concerned group’ that is attempting to hijack a 7,500 hectare land claim from the Mathulini Communal Property Association and the Ndelo Community Trust, valued in excess of R300m. The farms that make up this land claim produce 400,000 tonnes of sugar cane annually and employ 1,200 people,” Luthuli said.


“This violent hijack of a legitimate land claim is a desperate and unlawful attempt to achieve what has failed through legal processes that have so far cost the beneficiaries R6.5m in legal fees. The demands of the ‘concerned group’ ... have already been rejected in the land claims court in numerous cases.”

Luthuli said they had written to President Cyril Ramaphosa and agriculture, land reform and rural development minister Thoko Didiza about the situation.


“Perhaps now that a farm has been invaded, roads illegally blockaded and a man nearly burned to death, the government will take notice,” Luthuli said.


“If we allow nefarious forces to capture our land claim processes for their own ends, we will never get South Africa’s stalled land reform programme properly on track.”

Like I said elsewhere, land reform and violent appropriation of land and farms already started in South Africa, just like in Zimbabwe. All governments around the world just prefers to turn a blind eye.
 
Won't be surprised if this gets turned around and the victim is charged for killing some innocent trespasser.

A would-be farm attacker was shot and killed on a plot in Kameeldrift, a farming area in the Pretoria area, on Friday, reports the Pretoria North Rekord.

“It is alleged that the deceased and five other suspects attacked the victims while they were busy enjoying their braai,” said police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo.

He said the attackers apparently tied the victims up, but the caretaker managed to loosen his bonds and grab a rifle.

“A shootout ensued between the caretaker and the robbers – one robber was fatally shot and the others escaped,” he said.


Shibambo said police had launched a manhunt for the other five perpetrators, who escaped.

Elderly couple tied up and murdered on farm

Kimberley - A well-known couple was murdered on their farm Bloubos, between Boshof and Dealesville in the Free State, on the weekend.

The bodies of Sakkie van der Berg, 67, and his wife, Ina, 62, were discovered on Saturday morning by a neighbouring farmer. They had been tied up inside the farmhouse.

According to Hannes de Jager, the safety co-ordinator for Free State Agriculture, it is suspected that Sakkie was returning to the farm after taking a farmworker home on Friday afternoon, when a number of suspects, who were waiting for him at a farm gate, managed to overpower him.

They apparently then accompanied Sakkie and his vehicle to the farmhouse, where they found Ina.

The suspects then tied the couple up inside their home, before killing them.

Six men get life in prison for KZN farm attack

A Vryheid court on Friday sentenced six men to life imprisonment for a farm attack in KwaZulu-Natal in April 2016 which left two people dead and a third wounded.

The details of the sentencing were released on Monday.

Police spokesperson Lt-Col Thulani Zwane said that seven armed suspects attacked the Van Rooyen family at their farm home near Gluckstadt about 8.30pm on April 19 2016.

Myburgh and son face judgment for murder of emerging farmer Mavula
Schalk Myburgh and his son Schalk Junior – accused of murdering farmer Reckson Mavula – are back in the High Court in Pretoria, with Judge Tshifiwa Mawumela expected to hand down judgment. Myburgh, a building contractor in the North West, and his son Schalk Jnr are accused of assaulting and murdering Mavula by driving over him with their bakkie. The incident took place in Brits in 2015, at which point Mavula was their neighbour.

The court heard in September 2018 that the severe injuries Mavula endured were consistent with a car accident involving a pedestrian and not an assault. Professor Gert Saayman, a specialist forensic pathologist, gave the evidence in the trial of North West building contractor Schalk Myburgh and his son Schalk Jnr, who have pleaded not guilty to murdering Brits farmer Marsha Mavula in December 2015 by severely assaulting him and driving over him with their bakkie.

They don't need no highfalutin degrees, conscript the boys into a new national guard (with lots of less lethal ammunition) and the girls into prepetories for marriage so the guard has something to work towards. Then sit back and watch as it all falls to poop because the clowns at the top siphons off all the funding for fire pools and the guard uses confiscated armaments (from ruberred criminals) to form disparate militias and fight over the woman like 13jr olds playing CoD.

First you need multiple successes and a few gauntlet runs, only the toughest can lead after all. To keep things fair it's best to at least initially let the woman fight among themselves as to who gets first dibs on the top brass I think.

I know how to use and handle multiple gun types. I shoot often.

But, really, carrying a gun around all the time is very tedious. You cannot let your guard down for a moment, especially if you have kids. It's not really a be all end all solution.
 
I read on Facebook that a farmer was recently killed after his hands were chopped off? Anyone see anything credible about that?

I was not being LITERAL when I said "at hand"
I was speaking figuratively
ie Be alert , Be aware have the weapon somewhere where you can reach it QUICKLY !
