Alleged armed robber killed on Malmesbury farm

CAPE TOWN - An alleged armed robber has been shot dead on a farm in Malmesbury.
Agri Western Cape said two suspects broke into the Botterkloof Farm in the early hours of Monday morning.
However, police said they were met with force and the complainant fired shots, killing one of them. The other suspect fled on foot.

Durban - A KwaZulu-Natal Midlands couple, victims of a farm attack, are appealing for an end to violence in communities and for all South Africans to unite against crime.
Burgen Thorne released a video at the weekend, after he and his wife, Chantelle, were attacked in their Hidcote home by three knife-wielding intruders last week.


Thorne is now paralysed from the waist down and is expected to use a wheelchair.


Speaking from his hospital bed, Thorne said he would not wish this kind of abuse on anyone.


“We have spent our lives teaching people, educating people to read and write, and make better lives for themselves.




“We have felt the horror of this violence and senselessness,” Thorne said.

In an interview with The Mercury, his wife said the attack had left her reeling.

She said she had been relying heavily on support from friends in the community and family to get by.

Chantelle said she had been setting up the laptop, while her husband was preparing a snack for them.

No the problem is the hoi polloi are still stuck in their old thinking that extreme individualism is actually sustainable in the long term. No one thinks in groups so nothing real ever gets done.

Elderly woman stabbed and raped on Brits farm

Johannesburg - North West police are looking for four suspects after a 50-year-old woman was stabbed and raped while her gardener was held at gunpoint on her farm in Brits.

According to North West police spokesperson, Captain Elsabe Augoustides, the victim was in her office in the house on October 2 when she heard footsteps. She later discovered that it was not just one person but a group of people.

Three other assailants fled on foot after an apparent firefight that left one victim shot in the leg too.

The Nelspruit police have launched a manhunt to track down three remaining suspects believed to be behind a farm attack in Mpumalanga this morning, reports the Lowvelder.
The incident occurred at about 2am on the Uitkyk Road. Albert Gryvenstein of Bossies Community Justice was on the scene with the SAPS.
He said: “The victims have been identified as elderly couple Henry and Martie Brown and their middle-aged son, Tommy. Gryvenstein added that the suspects allegedly gained access to the home through a window.
“The victims sustained head injuries and one was shot in the leg.

Police have launched a manhunt for several suspects after an elderly couple were hacked with pangas and their middle-aged son was shot in the leg during a farm attack near Nelspruit during the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to police, it’s believed that four suspects managed to enter the house through a window, while the elderly couple and their son were asleep.

Mpumalanga police spokesman Brigadier Leonard Hlathi told News24 that once the suspects were inside, they accosted the elderly couple, demanding money and beating them with pangas.

Their son woke up during the commotion and intervened, armed with his firearm.

People who have been living on a farm for many a generations with not even a dropper pole stolen or fence cut. They should turn their house into a fort because of a possibility of attack? Nice victim blaming you keep on pushing in this thread... It's getting tiring.

Voetsek! One has to face the realities. Either there is a farm attack problem (this thread indicated there is) and people have to prepare as such, or there is no farm attack problem and we must just leave everything as is.

Fok nee, they don't. I normally spend 8+ hours a week on CPF patrol to try to prevent such things happening in my neighborhood, and don't know how much time on the WA group giving tips and explain methods used and whatever. You?

I'm the King of Scotland... (See how easy that was) I'm not here to test your little claims or how much of an security expert you are and that you drive 8k kms a month on CPF patrols.
