Farm Attacks

Just to put it out there, prior to the protest which turned volatile, it was said by the one group leader that should their demands not be met that there will be, "Mob Justice".


The two suspects weren’t represented in the procedural hearing, and requested state legal assistance. It doesn't seem that the court wanted to update the group, and that is when the building was stormed. I still don’t have an exact timeline, but there has been calmness long past the hearing was done. What triggered the volatility I don’t know?

All I know is there is a video where court administrators are verbally assaulting the group, why and when I also don’t know.

The media haven't reported anything other than unruliness, assaults and violence by the protesters, but I believe there is a chance that the two suspects may have been taken into consultation and perhaps bail was on the table which may have triggered the situation being discussed in this thread.

Exactly my point. Why was the old Boss let go? It seems this is where all the problem started.

We shouldn't make comparisons. The circumstances here aren't the same as the other circumstances. This what have happened in Senekal should be merited on its own. People want a resolution, then attention cannot be misplaced. I will rather stick to OT; we already have the EFF now being politically involved and when they do attend, they can be brought into the discussion where we can dissect and digest the deeds and acts which have happened on that day.

The emotions were high in Senekal, and it the police say and the protesters say at the moment. The truth is on either side or somewhere in the middle. The only entity which can assist with resolve is the government which have already condemned the gathering, where there is a chance that the police may have acted unconstitutionally to be apt.

As I understand MSM wasn't at the scene, so I guess the reporters which were 'assaulted' was local press houses?

From a political supportive view, the DA messed this one up as they aren't in touch with these who have gathered. They could have at least gotten the victim's name right, and apologised when they didn't, but they rather opted to go with a press statement that they a sympathising with the gatherers and the rural conditions. This wasn't the place to win political brownie points.

The DA is out of touch with all of reality not just this.

So you consider people snowflakes who are justifiably worried about the potential consequences of what will happen at the next hearing now that Malema has called for his EFF supporters to go defend property against the farmers at the next hearing. Ok...

No, I consider him a coward that ran away but still keeps badmouthing everyone that does not conform to his delusion of reality from a safe distance.

I know civil war is coming to SA, I make no bones about it. Clutching my pearls about an obvious inevitability would be pathetic especially since I have no actual choice in the matter.

and they say they were blind sided by an attack, which would mean they were targeted.

No, there is a video, he talked, but then announced the victim as Quentin, and then the nearby crowd reacted. This is the media changing a political narrative. It is a big deal in knowing the victim's name.

The Citizen did publish their view,

A group of protestors moved in and around the court and tried to gain access to the holding cells where the two suspects were being held. Pieces of steel from burglar bars were ripped off and banged against a window in an attempt to get to the suspects.

The Citizen’s journalist followed the crowd and climbed on top of a wall to see what they were up to, when she was threatened to put her phone away and told to “f…k off”.

Moments later one of the farmers marched up to her, grabbed the cellphone from her front jacket pocket and snapped it in half before tossing it on the floor.

The Citizen’s photographer was also assaulted during this time, as the protesters tried to confiscate and damage her camera.

“… they requested that no photographs be taken, when I refused the request speaking English, one farmer called me a ‘liberal bitch’ and I was physically assaulted while my camera was grabbed,” photographer Tracy-Lee Stark said.

“They threatened to smash it while pushing me around, and continuing to physically assault me. Another farmer stepped in and told them to back off. I was told to leave the area immediately with continued shouting that I should remove my liberal self and leave for my own safety.”

Shortly thereafter, a least three gunshots could be heard echoing around the area, and the team decided to leave the area as the violent protestors overturned a police vehicle before torching it.

These two The Citizen employees should lay charges against the protesters and also get their media commission involved.

Strange that language is brought into the story, which is irrelevant to the story, as to note that there were English-speaking protesters. Just an odd remark to make in the report.

Maybe. Maybe people are just so bored with the lockdowns and want excitement in their lives so they end up killing each other.

This could go badly if it escalates or it could fizzle out.

It will be just another one of those days, Iives lost would be mourned from both sides, The Frog Boiler will stand with a sombre face and say some words about healing our nation, and before long life will go back to normal.
