Farmer held for beating 7 workers

+1

Viva! People like that have no place in society and even less place in charge of other people.

As for those of you gaping @ "7 people!" take into consideration that not everyone is violent and most people tend to cower when they're being beaten and don't fight back. So its hardly surprising.

If any farmer lifts his hand against me, i will most certainly defend myself. But then, i am a White racist farmer myself. Just for fun we beat up on other people especially since we do not have any laws or human rights in this country. Nor do we have a department of labour or labour inspectors nor do we have police. We live out in the sticks and hurt other people. Especially when we need those people like when we have to bring the harvest in like at present.
We farmers love alienating our labourers during harvest time.

Never been given a hiding by your father? You can run, sure, but you'll have to face him again eventually. In their case, it's their wages, and they're probably used to it. Maybe they've just had enough?

*shrug*

The farmer will receive a trial and he'll be judged there. For now, I'm basing my opinion on the information given in the article and the fact that it wouldn't surprise me.
True true did not think about the wages. That does make sense. And he is behind bars. So yes.

Good work. Nobody should beat an worker unless defending your life.

I'm not standing around to get beaten up with a blunt object...

Maybe it did not occur on one day. Maybe this was over a period of time... but then why would you go back..

Perhaps you're the breadwinner and you have a family to take care of? Perhaps you're uneducated and you don't know of any other/better options available?

I don't know either :) Sometimes we don't do things that make sense because we're afraid of what happens if we do. I think it's a typical case of rather the devil you know than the devil you don't.

Here's one guy vs 4. If he was a big guy like MV, throwing in 3 more skinnies isn't gonna make a difference.

that is true too. This will have to go to court.

What I do not get is: If you are a farmer and knows people like killing farmers why would you do something that makes them retaliate. Strange creatures humans are.

eish...revenge I guess...didn't read the article - was it 7 men? 7 woman? 7 Kids? 7....

Here i am quoting myself. There is a first time for everything. LOL! I forgot to mention that i am an Afrikaans speaking, far right, racist very conservative White Farmer.

Possibly his big-ass hunting rifle gives him a false sense of superiority...

Nah... don't believe you...FAAAAAR right, racist very conservative FARMERS don't;

1) Know about MyBB forums
2)Don't know about the hinterweb
3)Can't spell to save their farm lives
4)Don't know about quoting functions
5)Can't put one Enrish sentence together...

So you're a faky!

Farmers are suckers for punishment. They like to be singled out and they pay their workers with a sjambok. Much cheaper that way. In the end the savings gets passed on to the consumer. You guys should be glad that some farmers have your interest at heart.

My cousin's husband is a farmer. I've had a friend whose father was a farmer. I know that (from a third-party perspective) they get along with their workers and they appreciate them. Behind the scenes I have nothing to base any fact or opinion. I would say I don't believe they would ever do anything to the detriment of their workers because they appreciate and need them.

However, I also believe that not every farmer is like them and that some are racist and see their workers not unlike animals.

I'm just saying that I'm willing to give the workers the benefit of the doubt and I'd like to watch and see how this case plays out. If the farmer is innocent, I believe he will be found as such and we can come up with whatever conspiracy theories after a verdict has been granted. Until then, your guess is as good as mine.

I can understand you'd want to come to the defence of the farmer since it must feel personal to you. To me, however, I just see seven people who rely on their wages being abused because they have to subject themselves to it or else who have just had enough. People who get abused generally never tell anyone, take it in a tail-between-legs kind of way and get on with their lives. I think it took seven of them because it took that many of them to come together to work up the courage to go to the police.

Again, all just speculation :p

"It'll never happen to me." "I know better." "I'm smarter than that." "I have my gun and I know how to use it."

:)

The is hardly any information given in the article. The title basically says it all, with the article saying the same thing using more words. Nowhere is it stated why the farmer allegedly beat the 7 workers.
Maybe.... maybe they sexually molested his daughter.
Maybe they were planning on assaulting him.
Or maybe they were late for work.

The farmer could have had a solid reason for his actions. Then again, maybe he didn't. We don't know, because the article doesn't say.

Hey this is good news the baddie is behind bars. :(

And since we don't know why the farmer did what he did, aren't we jumping the gun by classifying him as "the baddie"?

I agree. I have done things for my work before that I did not want too. I just have a terrible temper and would have moered you if you lifted you hand for me. But that is just me and most people have a better control on things than me.

This is an excellent unbiased post. Unlike the original news item. Thank you.

You do not end up behind bars in this country for nothing. You struggle to get there after killing people.

True, which is why opinion is currently based on personal speculation and nothing more. Hence, we wait for the verdict.

Maybe.... maybe they sexually molested his daughter.
Then he should've gone to the police and she should've had DNA swabs done as conclusive evidence.

Maybe they were planning on assaulting him.
Again, he should've gone to the police if he suspected such things, or hired protection. If they were just ABOUT the assault him and he defended himself, why didn't he go to the police first?

Or maybe they were late for work.
Always a justifiable excuse for beating up your staff.

It's a pleasure :p

And our excellent police system would do the rest, right? Not in this country, I'm afraid (probably not even on this continent!)

You'll have to ask him yourself ;-)

I just threw that one in there as an example of the "Then again, maybe he didn't" have a solid reason for his actions.

Aye, it would have been nice, however, if the writer of the article took the time and effort to write a more informative article. The writer could quote a policeman stating that the farmer assaulted the 7 employees with a blunt object, but the writer was unable to find out why? I find that more than a little suspect (and I'm trying to rule out writer incompetence on this one).

Well if he is innocent, he's just discovered why it's always best to go to the police first :D

I'm sure this'll find its way into the bigger publications at some point and then, hopefully, we'll have a bit more detail. However, aside from the verbosity of simply expanding on the headline, I'm inclined to side with writer incompetence :p
