Farmer held for beating 7 workers

The latest way to get farmers off their farms - concoct a story to have hi arrested and jailed

Wait, I thought farmers treated their workers with love and respect?

Viva! People like that have no place in society and even less place in charge of other people.

As for those of you gaping @ "7 people!" take into consideration that not everyone is violent and most people tend to cower when they're being beaten and don't fight back. So its hardly surprising.

Correct. Sounds like he attacked them, not the other way around.

Johannesburg - A 42-year-old North West farmer, arrested for allegedly assaulting seven workers, was granted R7 000 bail by the Lichtenburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, police said.

Captain Aafje Botma said Johannes van Rensberg appeared in the court on seven charges of assault with intention to do grievous bodily harm.

His case was postponed to May 28 for further investigation.

Van Rensberg was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted seven farm workers with a blunt object on his farm near Lichtenburg.

Lieutenant Colonel Metsi ruled out any link between the assault and the murder of the Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB) leader Eugene Terre'Blanche.

"There is no reason to suggest that the assault might be linked to the murder of Mr Terre'Blanche."

Terre'Blanche was killed on his farm outside Ventersdorp, allegedly by two of his farm workers on Easter Saturday, apparently over a pay dispute.
