Hi MyBB peeps.

I'm currently using team viewer to connect from home to my work PC mainly for emergencies when i need to unlock a users account, i do it as a favor instead of users having to call standby number.

Recently I've been connecting from work to home to do a couple of things maybe copy a file that i forgot or upgrade my castle on Castle Clash :D
Anyway, it can be extremely slow as i only have a 2mb line at home and 10mb at the office. I don't need 10mb at home if anyone suggests an upgrade, i'm very happy with my line speed, it gets the job done. Its slow even if i set it to faster rather than quality.

Can anyone suggest an alternate free remote software where i can reduce the graphics quality more just to connect at a decent speed? or just any other remote software that is know to have a faster connect speed.

Thanks to all who can assist :D

I've used the Microsoft built in Windows Remote Assistance on Monday instead of Teamviewer for the first time. It was excellent.

VNC (numerous client and server implementations e.g. RealVNC). Can be tuned down to reduce bandwidth at the cost of visual quality.

I moved to TightVNC from RealVNC when Win8 was released and found it to be a better fit on my XP, Vista & Win7 clients as well.

... just saying, as always, YMMV :)

VPN+Remote Desktop might be your most responsive option as it takes much of the rendering job over rather than transmitting the entire desktop
Otherwise Dameware is quite configurable but not a oneclick option like teamviewer

do you guys recommend tight vnc over ultra vnc?
Can't really comment, I haven't used ultra vnc as TightVNC works well for me on Windows systems.

I usually connect over VPNs from a Fedora linux system using the Remmina VNC client.
