I am looking for software that will basically stream everything that is happening on my computer screen to another computer via the network.
I have tried a couple of programs like NCH ScreenStream Screen Broadcasting Software but the frame rate are to slow when it comes displaying videos or game play.
Is there software like this or are you limited by network speed or CPU power?

You can stream your desktop via VLC media player. Never tried it, but the option is there.

+1 Great solution, I was thinking the same. In same vein, basically take a video out of your PC, stream that over network and display on other PC. Shouldn't have any frame issues like with other programs, if I understand correctly :)

I have also wanted to stream over a network with vlc before, but just could not get the connection between the 2 vlc's from the different pc's connected.

I gather you don't want to stream it over the internet, so does it mean you have a wifi or Ethernet connection between the locations? With other words, no Telco in the picture?
Then would you consider a hardware solution as well? or only software?

I've played once with software that you stream content over the network to provide live feed of what was happening at the Cape Town Aquarium

I am looking for a software solution.

I have a computer connected to my TV in my living room.

When working on my laptop, rather then running a VGA cable from my laptop to the TV, I want everything displaying on my laptop to also show on the TV.

Microsoft Lync works really nicely but that's PC to PC. Perhaps a PC-based media player on the TV side?

Resolution will be crap.
but you can RDP in from the TV PC

Sorry, another question, so you want to display the notebook's screen on the tv? What about sound? Do you have a smart tv?

2things come to mind! Miracast, it works great, or mirrorop (www.mirrorop.com). Say you dont have a smart tv, but you have windows 8,or 7 with miracast support, or intel screencard with WiDi support, or some Nvidea's,, then you can buy n hardware device (small box) from say netgear, to give you miracast support, a month ago it was roughly R1000 for such a box.
Oo and mac also support it. (And andriod an bb10)

So thats to make your tv comatible. So a bit of hardware unfortunatly
