I've been playing around with different options on an HP NL36 ProLiant Microserver :) and would like to use a USB stick as the boot drive.
Thing is, my 1GB Kingston DataTraveler I flash drive takes forever to load my OS :cry:, so I was hoping someone could recommend the right 8/16GB USB stick to me and where to get it from.

You could look at one of the new Adata S102 USB 3.0 drives. The 16 and 32GB drives have much higher write speeds than the 8GB version.

Doesn't sound like write speeds are the issue, though. Read speed determines how fast the OS can load.

Brilliant! Thanks for the link to rebeltech, Yotch!

Almost bought the new Kingston Data Traveller G3 USB2.0 that has 10MB/s Reads and 5MB/s Writes.

The ADATA S102 USB3.0 drives are 3x faster in USB2.0 than the Kingston drives.

USB3.0 Reads are still 2x higher than in USB2.0, with very little difference between the 16GB and the 32GB drives.
Different story in Writes though, as they go from 18MB/s on the 16GB to 31MB/s on the 32GB.

The link if anyone's interested in the USB3.0 breakdown: http://www.adata.com.tw/?action=product_specification&cid=1&piid=119

I was specifically referring to the ADATA USB3 flash drives.

The testing method used also makes a massive difference in terms of the speed results. Like on my 8GB ADATA flashdrive, I was able to get like almost twice the speed with HDTune when using like 2MB blocks, instead of copying via Windows which uses like 4kB blocks.

I thought the OP wanted USB 2.0 stick.. well that's what the title says.

To achieve what the OP wants to do he needs a USB 3.0 that is backward compatible
Fast data transfer rates for USB 3.0 to 80MB/sec. read and 60MB/sec. write;
USB 2.0 = 30MB/sec. read and 30MB/sec. write
