Fastest BIOS POST time, P67 Gigabyte vs Asus

il say the asus my gigabute x58a-ud5 takes forever lol

then after post needs to boot achi bios also lol
 
Dunno 'bout the Asus, but the P67 Gigabyte is very quick.

Can time it if you want... something like under 3 seconds from switch hit to begin OS load.

EDIT: Can also do a vid if you REALLY need.
 
I don't think the P67 Asus would win. They were having some issues with 'double post'. As it is, it checks both SATA controllers for devices, so you need to disable one to speed up boot time.
 
Probably the ones using UEFI instead of the traditional BIOS.
 
Is there anybody with an Asus P8P67 that can give an accurate figure?

Silverlight, whilst more devices can slow POST down, I don't think it's the determining factor.... Some boards just take much longer, like my gigabyte P35.... (takes about 15 seconds with only a single hdd connected, and a similar time with everything else connected.)

Lol, are people benching POST times now? Wouldn't it be determined by which motherboard does the fewer tests?
 
Heya... it is not mine... it is my brothers...

P67A-UD3 with 6 drives, usb mouse+keyboard+wacom, DVD writer.

I will time it tomorrow again... I set up Windows on it and remember it being FAST... Press Button - BIOS Splash Screen - HDD list - OS Boot... in literally 3 seconds (5 MAX).
Caught me a number of times with this... had to reboot to get into BIOS.

Will video it with my phone if you like and post it... :} (no pun intended)

I'll do it tomorrow on a PRO. It seems to have a system which checks various parts of the boot sequence and lights up LEDS on the mobo as it goes. If it gets stuck at one point, that's where the problem lies.
For some reason it doesn't find the storage devices on the Jmicron and Marvel Controllers and says "not found" even though it boots normally. So, efficient it isn't.
Times are not much of an issue. Shutdown is quite quick too.
 
Okay, just tested here on the Gigabyte.

3 seconds from button press to spash screen
4 seconds drive detection
1 more to OS boot...

so 8 seconds... not 3... geeez... slower than I remember.

NOW... must find ways to OPTIMIZE pre-boot POST!!! ;)

Win Home Premium, 1HDD.

Shutdown is 21s.

{Dont give us the 3 seconds BS paleez}

8 seconds for the gigabyte still sounds pretty good. Beats mine anyway.

Wow, 28 seconds for the asus? Looks like somebody's trying to set a world record! :D

And what's the shutdown time? Time to shutdown after clicking shutdown?

Feel free to post MSI and others as well...
