Fastest laptop chips ever from Intel

Pity that machines that use them are so expensive. I'd love to get rid of this Core2Duo 1.6GHz and get something that can handle more RAM as well, but at R15+k, imported, and probably R30+k locally, you'd have to be a tad daft to buy one now.
Actually, you'd be daft to buy any laptop now, as pretty much all the OEMs are waiting for Win7 to launch so that they can sell laptops with it already installed. I know Asus and HP are both holding off until then, with their mobile i7 systems.

Yeah I saw Alienware has one also with i7, can't find the link right now, but I guess it's also not the mobile one.

Check the Alienware thread, then check the specs on the M15x and M17x on Alienware's website. They are indeed Core i7.

At R11500 I'm seriously considering the M15x. I'll use the company account to buy it :D

..... 5.4KG. That is not a laptop.

Of course, those machines are non-movers both in terms of their weight and in terms of sales. They're Desktop Replacements. Very few people actually need such portable power - there are more powerful desktops around with better options and for portability ULV processors are key.
