Fastest Web browser

I can't live without all of Firefox's add-ons. When the fastest browser gets that capability then I'll switch. :D

I was thinking, is not Firefox's add-ons that might have slowed it down for these tests?. But, I would think that the test is done without any addons.

Odd. I've been trying out Firefox (no add-ons, because they do slow it down) quite a lot recently, as I was wondering if I should switch. Thought maybe I was missing something, and I'd seen the reports saying it was so fast. I couldn't handle it though, and I had to change back to Opera. There's just no way Firefox is faster. That was the reason I experimented and the reason I came back to Opera. I doubt these tests are as "real world" as they say.

What's missing is program loading speed i.e. how fast does the program load once you have clicked on it to open?

Results would be relative to each other.

The scripts are loaded into the browser (and memory) before the tests are run, so loading times are irrelevant. Even if you contend that processor speed has an effect, the tests were all done on the same system so the results are relative.

Acid3 aside, these tests really only checked JavaScript execution ability. Over and above Java, a webpage may have numerous elements that require loading, reducing the overall speed at which a page is loaded.

I doubt anyone can discern the difference between a few milliseconds anyway.

Tests were done on vanilla versions of browsers.

I can't move away from Firefox...just because of these two important features:
- Block Images from www.unwantedimagead.thing
- The Flashblock addon.

...and how I miss them when they're not there

Been using Chrome since beta myself. Best browser id you're not an add-on junkie :p

Just installed Chrome, and WoW!
Never seen my Yahoo mail load so fast.Impressive!

I use both firefox and chrome, and have come to the following conclusion:
Chrome is REALLY fast, but Firefox wins in the memory usage department. Chrome can be a real memory hog sometimes.
