Faulty Seagate

Got a Seagate 300GIG 15 months ago, but since the middle of last year it has been giving me problems.
Doesn't pick it up, (detect). Every 3-4 months with a fresh copy of XP it crashes, I can assure you it wasn't a virus.

Gave it in to be sorted out after it failed to format in the bios or even as a slave. It took them 3 days to sort it out. PROBLEM - Something about file allocation table ect.

But they promise me - no damage (so no reason to send it to seagate)

Came at home and used it as a slave, 2 days and it's giving me the same problem.

Frontier Electronics only gives a 12 month guarantee. What do I do now?

all seagates should come with a 5 year warranty, maybe try another supplier and see if they'll swap it out for you?

sent in one of my 250's yesterday, said i must send the courier thursday to collect the replacement.

and this is for a hard drive bought from a certain person, which, due to this person disappearing, couldn't get replaced through him, but storgate willing is to help.

Yeah, storgate is the way to go. Its one of the reasons ill never buy any other drive.

Had the same thing.
Bought the drive from a pc shop that went bust.
Bought it secondhand from them, nogal, so had no idea how old it was, as I had it 2 years.
Send it to storgate and got it replaced.

Went into Storgate today, 15 mins and I left with my new 300GIG harddrive.

I will think twice about buying any other hard drive but a seagate again.

So they will fix that drive now?
They didn't even check the HD, so hopefully they wont call me and tell me I need to return the new one.

When does it qualify for a return?
