I purchased a vehicle on the 5th october 2018. Its just a little over 30 days old. It has a fault. It is brand new vehicle. It was purchased on finance. Is it possible to cancel the deal and return the vehicle.

How serious is the fault?
You can only return the vehicle if the fault makes vehicle unsafe.

The vehicle is a renault kwid. It is not engaging gears and just comes to a complete stop. The check engine light is on. I honestly feel unsafe and that my life is at risk driving such a car.

Yes cause i am hearing numerous complaints about this vehicle

Wow, that's pretty bad.

Take it back immediately and ask for a replacement vehicle, preferably not a Kwid.

In this case I think you are justified in requesting that they replace the car - unless they can prove that you have damaged the car in some way.

Request a meeting with the Dealer Principal and explain to him/her that you have lost confidence in the car and would like it replaced. If it was new when you bought it, they must replace it with a new car. If it is a used car, they can replace it with a similar car or they can give you your money back.

For obvious reasons they will not be very happy about replacing the car and will try to convince you to allow them to have it repaired. Depending on what is wrong with the car, you can allow them to do that but make sure first that the problem with the car is a minor issue.

Be insistent but polite. They will fight you but if you handle it correctly, they will eventually replace it.

Well there's your mistake.

The Kwid is a deathtrap POS. How it is still sold in this country beats me.

Lol. What's wrong with the car? Its sister Sandero isn't too bad though the engine can do with a bit more grunt.

There is so many of them on the road and i am rather curious how are they holding up as the mileage is climbing on them.

Ok so why does this sound dodge?

1. If it cant engage gears it wont move?
2. how does it come to a complete halt if it cant engage gears in the first place?
3. An engine light will give a clear code of the issue. have you spoken to the dealer?

You don't perhaps have a very thick carpet that prevents you from depressing the clutch all the way?
