Mine's got to be Skype - I know - not very original but it does the job, esp with the SkypeIn numbers I have in US and UK.

I have to admit when I was using UUNet this past month I was finding it horrible. Thanks to SAIX (Telkom) its working 100% again - now thats Irony!

Well I cannot say yet - I am trying to get ADSL bcos Skype & MSNMsngrrr just don't work well on iBurst [for me], one of the main reasons I got a "broadband" connection was for VoIP - I just did not expect iBurst to make VoIP unusable [for me] :(.

we all love Skype, but the problem it's very difficult to buy Skype credit for SAs. without SkypeOut, Skype is not skype anymore

Yep, my credit card doesn't buy me SkypeOut which is really disappointing - I wish we could get an answer out of Skype as to why their system "cancelled" all of my SkypeOut purchase attempts...:(

I recently tried to buy skype credit with my nedbank card it it went straight through so they might have finally sorted that one out. Also seeing as PayPal is supposed to be back (or coming back??) it should make life easier, no?

IC - What makes iBurst and VOIP incompatible?

Found this post - http://www.mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=20878 - which illustrates a) when nedbank credit cards started working and b) why iBurst doesnt work well!

Skype for IM, PSTN(if you can buy credit), file excahnge
VoipBuster for free PSTN
FWD for inbound number
zero27.net for when you got capped, since it's local service

Well, this is what I have from Skype so far,

Due to the large amount of credit card fraud, Africa, is a very untrusted.

So where from there, well if you can get a product to do skype as well as normal voip and use normal voip when dialling out, sounds like a plan. Thats what we are looking at.

Ah - wouldnt it be nice is Skype had a local server so even capped the service would still work! Or do they? Havent had to worry about a cap for a few months now.

I rarely use skype to skype - its almost always skype to landline (or mobile) or landline initiated to skype

Voipbuster for FREE PSTN

You can't beat VoipBuster for free calls to most countries in western Europe and N. America. I don't know how these guys are doing it, but I have had 30hrs of free calls to landlines in Europe and it has not cost me a cent.

Use it while it is free!!

Nothing is free - after the consumers sign up , the company sells to the powers.
