Favourite coffee

Sadly mine went into the bin. On/off button broke inwards. Could still get a small finger in to press the tiny switch on the circuit board, but then the thing started shocking me!
haha good to know I shall be careful with the button presses then

Yea that's how I've been doing it for about a year now.
Haven't shocked myself yet though...
Got me this one as I am not paying the asking price for the entry level electric ones again!

Just tried it - fine grind is easily fine enough for espresso. Maybe yours was broken :p

I have a Melitta which is in a similar price range as the Krups. Gave a short review of it on Carb. I currently use the built-in grinder of my Breville Barista Express. The Melitta can give a grind finer than what I use on the Breville (I generally brew with an extraction ration of 1:2, for about 25 s (double-shot)).

So I think the cheapy burr grinders can generally grind fine enough for espresso. I'm not sure how the grind consistency compares, and not having static try to capture your ground coffee makes the Breville much friendlier to use.

Of course, the coffee game is even worse than cycling - there's always a grinder/machine that is better than the one I have, but beyond what I'm willing to pay.

Krups GVX231

Don't know much about the brand but seems reputable

Mine has been going for years without an issue. I’m not a regular coffee drinker but when I do it’s always the finest grind to pull an espresso.
It’s an entry level grinder, price seems a bit high compared to years ago, but it does the job quite well.

A friend gave me a couple KGs of Wimpy's beans - surprisingly, not bad.
