Favourite coffee

I can't praise Deluxe enough.
They are distinct in that their prices have increased only very marginally in the ten years or so I have been a customer and their quality is consistently excellent.
That consistency is priceless in my opinion. As you explore the hobby and start to invest in gear you'll quickly learn that the returns are diminishing the higher up you climb, so if your beans are not of consistent quality then that might cause you to make a decision based off of bad data.
Consistent beans mean that you can reliably assess where the weaknesses exist in your setup and what might be the best way to invest the next chunk of change that you plan to drop on java.

I think you nailed my reason for being a fan. consistency. It means you can focus and learn other little things as the bean remains consistent, affordable and a good taste

Unfortunately Kopi Luwak is worse than a farce.

So to try and understand it: basically the idea is that hand selecting the best berries by humans and washing them properly is one thing but the civet is naturally primed to select the best berries and the digestive process will thoroughly clean the bean of any plant flesh.

The idea is that the droppings contain the leanest possible bean from the best possible cherry.

The problem is that hunting for civet droppings in the wild is ridiculously labour intensive, so the answer is to farm them.

Civets are not social animals so caging them in groups is very cruel, the practices around this are sketchy at best and often boil down to force feeding the caged animal human selected beans (do you see the problem?) 24/7 and forcing them to live in their own excrement.

It's a horrific industry that's sprung from the popularity of one scene in a very forgettable Hollywood movie.

@nazmo you've probably realised by now that there is very little chance that you actually sampled the real thing. More likely the beans your sample was extracted from where selected by humans (which is half the point of Kopi Luwak) and produced through horrifyingly cruel farming practices.

i have no idea the brand or the source. Was brought from Malaysia. Someone who runs a coffee shop is in a group of friends. anyhow. dont know the context, history, or anything other than it wasnt special.

You DO know it's not poop, but coffee, don't you?

So you're obviously just trolling.

Either seasoned troll or new to the internet, judging from his post count. Joined today just to talk about poop. obsessively ?

The annoying thing, is the thread actually ended up being a proper informative Coffee thread.

I said my say about the poop coffee, overratted and glad i didnt pay for it...

But I suppose expecting a 13 yr old do add real value is too much to ask.

Apologies OP. hopefully we can continue a decent thread.

Hi guys, has anyone tried this coffee from Woolworths? Is it any good? Bulk-100-Arabica-Coffee-Beans-Breakfast-Blend-1Kg-6009189862441.jpeg

My favourite Woolies coffee is the single origin Kenyan Arabica beans. Good value for money.

Picked up some Tanzanian Asmara coffee from Woolworths. Will provide feedback later this week.

A Little info:

  • Exclusively available at Woolworths
For the Asmara team, sourcing coffee beans is both a challenge and an adventure. This passion has led them to travel to remote areas to build relationships and bring you exceptional coffee in the process.

The best filtered coffee that I ever had was from Val's on UWC.
I think they use some blend from that Peacock coffee company but I have no idea what blend it is.
Anyone know?
