so i have a memory problem , memtest86 latest version shows i get 130 errors within 44 minutes of testing , test 8 ect ect. i have a weird feeling its the ram thats bad , but to make sure i tested furmark (pass it with max settings) , and prime95 ...

prime95 i did a torture test on the cpu (small FFT's , max fpu test ) and then the pc restarted after a few minutes , should i worry about the cpu aswell ? its been working fine for a whole year.. maybe its the cpu paste i need to check and reapply or will it still be ram messing it up?

i also tried a blend test on prim95 and ended up with the test ending with 1 error. it didnt crash. WTH  also , only cod4 works flawlessly for 7 hours . other games (bc2, BO , COH) just crash to desktop or give me win32k.sys error.

i dont overclock anymore as its not needed. pc runs cool 50 degrees

also , the problem stick is a 2gb ddr3 1333 kingmax which i dont know the memory timings for , cant find it on google atm as work is priority but it still might help.:wtf:

Did you get a lifetime warranty?

yeah , shop replied that i can bring it in and they will swop it for a new one < Ram> . what bugs me is the cpu , why is prime95 restarting my pc? cpu usage is 100% and ram is normal desktop usage around 32% so its not like prime is stressing the ram at all... :<

i found a site with timings on it , i remembered my manual timings were a bit higher than that (slower) which should have proved more stable but it didnt. i give up lol , ram is busted , end of story :(

Latency: CAS latency: 5-5-5-15, CL7 where my settings were 7-7-7....

Otherwise try 7-zip's benchmark. It should say that it had an error with the decryption when the memory is faulty.

Try 9-9-9-27 timings if you don't know the RAM's timings.

when i ran memtest86 it showed the timings at that time (auto in bios) it was 9-9-9-24 . maybe i should change it to 27?

wonder if this will fix everything and the ram isnt actually faulty ? only time will tell on memtest

thanx pada those timings did the trick , this morning i set it to 27 and ran 7zip for 3 hours and no errors , i tried to play coh again and it worked straight for 2 hours where it would bomb out in 20 mins usually (made sure its a long game hehe)

i cant believe such a simple setting can have a huge impact on the pc , going to get another 2 gig stick after payday then the pc will be top notch:)

now if only i had the cash for a very fast hdd :o any donations will be accepted lol

I'd suggest that you run memtest x64 to test if the memory really works.

Usually that last latency number should be set to the total of the other 3, which is why I suggested that it should be 27 for CL9 :)
