Other species are dying.. Humans are defying it - but for how long...

I'm worried.

“The reason Venus is like a hell seems to be what is called the greenhouse effect…The greenhouse effect can make an earth-like world into a planetary inferno…the hell of Venus is in stark contrast to the comparative heaven of its neighbouring world, our little planetary home, the earth….Carbon dioxide and water vapour make a modest greenhouse effect without which, our oceans would be frozen solid. A little greenhouse effect is a good thing. But Venus is an ominous reminder that in a world rather like the earth, things can go wrong. There is no guarantee that our planet will always be so hospitable. To maintain this clement world we must understand it and appreciate it. The runaway greenhouse effect on Venus is a valuable reminder that we should take the increasing greenhouse effect on earth seriously.”
- Carl Sagan

How accurate are these century records. Is that for the whole planet or just certain parts?

So that has to do with the weather?!?!? Oh I see unless you go have a tan outside. I get it :)
The whole point is the debate - of those who say that man doesn't cause environmental change and that the earth is naturally getting hotter every year. However if the earth dramatically gets hotter one cannot refute man influence as the cause

The key part in the article is "far bigger margin than ever seen before". That is why the figures are shocking.

Man, animals and plants have evolved over billions of years. 1 degree in one year is a big deal. If you cannot realize that, then you might as well believe all the continents fit into Africa.

Yet here we are as people, taking holidays in Canada and Egypt. Hell, we could even emigrate there. I doubt the climate would be of much concern.

So how many coal fire power plants and gas guzzling V8 trucks were running all over Venus before it turned into hell? Or is there a slight chance that humans weren't the cause?

The v8 goes vvvvvvvvvvvvvroooooooooooooooom! right over your head...

I hope the whistling emoticon is an indication of you being flippant.
