MORE company liquidations are being recorded in SA as economic conditions and rising costs weigh on business operations.

The total number of company liquidations increased by 22.2% to 193 in February compared with a year ago, Statistics SA data showed on Tuesday.

Voluntary liquidations increased by 44 cases, while compulsory liquidations decreased by nine cases.

There were 81 liquidations in financing and business services, 39 in trade, catering and accommodation, and 31 in community, social and personal services in February.

I'm surprised it's only a 22.2% increase... I can only imagine the number will accelerate over the next few months

Can believe that... people are being retrenched left, right and center in my industry and finding work as a recent graduate (with a Masters) is really tough.
