I have now had the final straw with Telkom.
So this is what has been happening.

Openweb Say its Telkom- Fair enough, do investigation my side, line battles to authenticate, router tells me often "PAP authentication issues" I have pages and pages of logs where the router battles to get a connection with the ADSL synched. When it does synch, it will stay up for 7 hours max then I get disconnected.

Reported this issue 3 times, on the third attempt I got TelkomZA involved.
They swear there's nothing wrong with my line.
Get home tonight... I have been DOWNGRADED to 2MBps ADSL:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
They send me a screenshot that the line is set to synch at 10240. The thing now synchs at 4096kbps... yay maximum download speed MOTHERF**KING 2Mbps at most.... Feels like I am back in 2009
Tried phoning 10210, they don't answer!

I have battled with Telkom the last few years something awful. I can't do this anymore. This is now the second time I am going down the same road, the last time it ended up in me taking them to court. They simply refuse to fix the m**therf**king line by the third fault reference, they think I am trying to take the p*ss! I have had to pay small fortunes to have new lines put in to replace lines they refuse to fix. My current ADSL line, I had to have installed because they were too EFFING LAZY TO MOVE IT FROM MY OLD ADDRESS TO MY NEW ADDRESS some 1.2km away from the old address!!!!! I had to pay line rental for at least two months after that. Never got a refund!

I am simply not prepared to spend another R800+ to have yet another new line put in, and then cancel this one. Why is it SO EFFING HARD FOR TELKOM????? Do they employ people with IQ of -30?????

Can someone here tell me, is LTE a solution, because I want to get Telkom out of my life, once and for all.

Is it worth anything to take this matter to ICASA?

Here are all my fault references:

721CRK080314 - Service was "restored" nothing changed!
796CRK220314 - Service was "restored". My God I must be dreaming
1619CRK010414 - Original report on the 1st (third time lucky maybe?)
1619CRK010414 - reported again this evening, re-issued this fault reference when I tried to speak to someone on the phone.

You sure its Telkom? Never heard of them blocking ports /: please run my first tool in my SIG :)

I came home last night to find that
1) The ADSL speed has been cut in half
2) All ports blocked.

And I have not changed anything. Every port excepting the above is blocked. This means NOTHING WORKS!

I ran your tool, came back clean, aside from the download speed being 1/2 of what it used to be.
I complained to OpenWeb about the ports, not 2 minutes later they SUDDENLY OPEN... hmmm...

Yea, these issues sound like an openweb issue /:

Why don't you get another account to test? :)

I was referring to before his line cut. Ow often just blamed Telkom for issues on their side. Even when it was showed other isp's work but they don't.

This case does sound like a Telkom issue though, either that or a bad modem/hardware.

There was a time ow blamed Telkom for almost every problem. So always test with another isp. Preferably not that 1gb free data though. It's designed to be fabulous.

Fabulous would be good news for the OP.

It's 1gb free. If it's fabulous you think, maybe I should switch. Then you switch and discover what it's like full time. Like the first hit from a drug dealer if you will.

Well it would make sense if you are using a capped account and then move to an uncapped account that the experience is going to be a lot worse, but this is stated upfront.
