Hi guys...

I am busy installing this now: Fedora Core 6

What are your views about this.. This machine is for office use, not games and stuff..

Any problems i should now about???

Thanks..

Why not wait for FC7?

EDIT: It's due out 31 May.

Have you used Linux before? FC is considered a more bleeding edge type distro (FC6 was out in November last year and FC7 in May). If it's for office use you might want to consider a distro that has longer cycles cause it also means that you won't have to upgrade frequently which also means support for your version won't fall by the way side pretty quickly. Debian (Etch) not a bad shout in that respect.

That being said, I have used FC6 (and 4 and 5) and have found them to have as many issues as any other linux distro. The unofficial site www.fedoraforum.org is very helpful and has helped me out of many a problem.

Yes I am new to Linux... I found FC6 on a PC Format cover dvd. I want to learn a bit more about Linux, and did not want to waste to much bandwidth on downloading Linux before I know enough about it.. I want to keep Linux running on one of my office pc's and wanted to know about any issues I should be on the look out for.. Will upgrade to a better verasion later on..

Thanks

I was a fan of FC for quite awhile... never got to test out FC6 - heard there were quite a few issues with it initially.

Ubuntu is now my preferred distro of the moment.

Also with Ubuntu you can signup and order free cd's

Best Linux I have ever used was Mandrake 10 with KDE.

It detected my network and came with all the music and movie codecs installed, and Supertux :D
