Come on guys, have a bit of confidence here! Instead of writing a small thesis on why we are all wrong (you know who i'm talking about) prehaps some of you could come up with a better plan AND implement it. Honestly, there have been so many GOOD ideas posted here over the months, but little or no action has been taken, except by a select few.

For a change, why don't some of you execute some of your idea's? Rodent has single handedly rallied for our cause more than anyone else (The radio interview, sentechsucks.co.za, poopband.co.za, press interviews, organised the war drive etc...). I personally will give him my full support because he has chosen to take this path and have a meeting with Sentech. If this is what he beleives to be the best step to take now then I am prepared to trust his judgement.

By the same token, if some of you had taken more pro-active steps towards action (instead of just yapping) I would very happily throw my support behind you. I challenge those of you who yap incessantly to take action as you see best. Take some big steps, see where you land up with Sentech. Could you have convinced them to sit down and have a meeting?

Instead of criticizing so heavily, why dont you actually do something? Show us how far you can get, you might surprise all of us (and yourself), hopefully you'll do even better than the rodent has so far.

Untill you have tried to do something, QUIT THE F$CKING YAPPING!

It's not fair since we've stuck with their service so far, waiting for things to get better. We all deserve to know what's going on!! I'm so sick of all the secrecy.

There is a fine line there about the yap factor. This is not a hollywood show where arguements make for good reading and evoke the emotions, If you want that I feel that this forum is not serving it's correct purpose. I can only assume that this forum was made so people out there do not always have to turn to Telkom/Sentech for sollutions and news. They can ask other members for help, let them know what is happening in the world of broadband. Let others know what is happening out there and educate them. But this Sentech forum has taken over more of a "anti sentech" approach and is on a rapidly decending path. People are not appreciating what other senior members are doing for them, other ignorant people are hoping on the band wagon making bigger waves, destructive waves. These fights are not constructive and achieve nothing. I would like to thank the party that went to sentech and voiced the myadsl feelings. What you are doing is great and I hope that every things does start to come right as Sentech/WBS are the only ways forward. Without support you will have to turn to Telkom and that is not good. Every month I get raped for a service that should be have the price, I would turn to one of them if only I had coverage but until then I must watch a monopoly basically rob me blind.

The way i see the situation we have NO choice but to work with Sentech to get over their issues. Clearly they are not capable of doing it themselves, and we have tried to fight against them (which left us where we were last week...NO WHERE)

So to all the moaners/yappers and people in doubt:

If you can think of something better to do then please step forward...

Otherwise be patient and wait and see what happens. I was in the meeting and i have faith in where we are headed... failing which i cancel and move on to iBurst next year (which i hear is having problems with bandwidth today, so at least we are not alone!)

Don't for a moment think that Sentech's improvements of late are because of ANY of this positive interaction with them (in fact it was these "destructive waves" that forced them to start acting in the first place, remember that). In general though the improvements that Sentech have made and still plan to make are for one reason only: there is COMPETITION coming (Vodacom, iBurst, MTN etc.). The only reason Sentech had this meeting was for PR spin - I mean it's not as if they don't know what's wrong with their service, so on the technical front this meeting had no purpose whatsoever, although I am happy that they have informed at least *some* customers, which is a good break from their uber-secretive past.

Personally I believe in the effects of competition more than anything else in keeping any company's behaviour in check, and I have confidence that Sentech will keep improving its service in the long run ... NOT because of any "peaceful negotiations" and what-not, but simply because Sentech faces competition. I'm not "destructive": I hope that Sentech, iBurst, Vodacom etc. ALL survive in the long run, and I also hope that none of them ever become too dominant in the wireless Internet market .. consumers will then get choice, and it will keep profit margins at a minimum. But don't for a moment think that Sentech would be taking steps to improve their service if it weren't for (a) "destructive waves" and (b) prospect of competition. Sentech knew *exactly* what they were doing when they deliberately shrank the MW BW pool in May - the service deterioration was no accident.

In general I would prefer to see bad companies go under, so that Darwinism can take it's course and allow *good* companies to flourish in the longer run. We got knee-deep into the Telkom cr*p because we all kept supporting Telkom by giving them money. Now you want to keep supporting another lousy company, making them bigger and bigger until good companies can't compete. "Telkom is worse" is not a good reason to support another crappy company, and propping up Sentech is short-term thinking.

The way dorris puts it you'd think that the improvements Sentech have made were BECAUSE of this meeting. The improvements they've made so far all happened BEFORE this meeting, and at the height of the "attacking" times.

First off I do appreciate senior memebers doing what they did, its mighty admirable

Secondly the only reason why there is an Anti Sentech approach is because of their service of late.

but I hear you... At the end of the day a forum is exactly what you describe... a place to better the community of sentech users and what certain forumites did, meeting with Sentech and suggesting a way forward is to the betterment of this forum and sentech users in general.

That's the problem - there isn't "an approach" that will give us a better deal because Sentech just *does what it wants anyway* - all they have done with this meeting is try make us feel better about it while they do it - it's just KY, that's all. The only time Sentech listened to customer feedback was when it was pointed out their proxy was open. But if it makes y'all feel better naively believing that "peaceful negotations" are going to help any more than the beneficial effects of marketplace competition (which I promise you is all Sentech management understands, they're businessmen), while rudely mocking anyone who realises your naivety for making "soap opera" comments, then go ahead and waste your own time. ill have to take issue with you on this unfortunately the reason such a big "attack" on sentech was needed is because they have the telkom parastatal mentality and there bussiness skills had been warped/removed by exposure to telkom ... they are starting to percive that they cant conduct themselves as does telkom ...

every liberation in history has followed this path ...

1)support for change by the masses
2)attempts at negetiation for change
3)if this is not adheared to taken seriously a point needs to be proved and continued to be proved through all means neasisary ...
4)once the backlash cant be contained any longer and the impact is felt genraly in economic terms ... they will be prepared to talk
5)negotiations will begin at this point you do not abandon hostilities but temper them to accomodate each other
6)solutions will start been implemented slowly at first until trust is fully restored
7)the lesson needs to be remembered or repeated ...

animal farm is a clasic example of this and i belive more than anything shows the importance of step 7 the minute you forget you backwards not forward ...

i really want sentech to succeed but will not tolerate bad service and domination that has seen telkom entrenched remember although things might be not as hostile as last week that still remains a option and sentech knows this ... they are in the same situation we are at the momment ... if these talks fail the party that causes the breakdown will loose all credibility at the moment we have the credibility and dont want to loose it ...

it took 44 years to get things changed in south africa it does not happen overnight and yes it is possible it gets worse before getting better the difference now is that there is a clear path forward and we need to follow it and certainaly im not gonna light up the peace pipe yet ... but i would like to in the near future (and i dont share da goodness of the weed with just any one)...
