Hi Folks

It is hard to believe this forum has only been going for 5 days. So many members, so many discussions. It is a clear sign that we are not happy, and action is needed. One has to start somewhere, and a letter to all parties involved was what I opted for. You can view this letter in our news section. I hope most people are happy with the content of the letter. I am certain there will be many small complaints, but I am doing my best to gather all the ideas and not to add too many at once. If we all remember that our main aim is to improve this service I am certain most will approve of the letter. Please give your views: good or bad.

I send the letter to all people listed below. I will inform you about any feedback. It is of great importance to stay active. If they see the forum dies, so will their need to react.

I hope all of you enjoy the discussion and site so far. I am off on holiday for a week to a remote part of the world, and would therefore not be able to contribute for a while. Looking forward to all the new discussions and views on my return.

Thanks to all of you for the activity on the site so far. Together we might just be able to change things for the better.

Regards,

RPM

RPM, thanks for your effors. Much appreciated.

I agree with your letter. We've bought a cat in a bag here...

Hi Paf

I have some free time now and decided to use it wisely :-)

I can inform you guys that I also contacted a few opposition political parties regarding this issue. If this gets a mention in parliament it will definitely further our cause.

Regards,

RPM

I think your letter was excelent, one thing that does concern me is the use of an alias at the bottom, I dont see why it should be anonymous... Unless thats just in the copy you provide for us.

Hi again guys

Just a short note before I leave to let you know about replys. I can also inform you that I contacted a few radio stations and newspapers to let people know about the site. It seems like previous complaints did have an impact (see Diana’s reply). I must say that these prompt replys from Telkom is good to see. I am uncertain whether it is customary or because of the fact the we will take action if they do not reply, but either way, I am happy. Seems like things are happening !!

Regards,

RPM

Diana writes:

“I acknowledge receipt of your email on the ADSL service. I am aware of the problems that you have raised. ICASA is going to have a public hearing on the issue at a date to be announced soon which will be open to members of the public. We would encourage ADSL subscribers to attend.”

Brad writes:

“If I have spoken to you before you will know that I am on the
technical support helpdesk. I have very little influence on any
decision that gets made on ADSL. I will forward your message through
to the decision makers and they will respond to your email.”

Hi again guys

I am currently fairly aggressive in my correspondence with Telkom. The reason for this is that they simply never give any answers. They will happily write a 10 page letter without supplying relevant information. I am happy with the timely response of Diana, but unhappy about her not replying to the letter. The fact that the meeting will be held “soon” can mean months or years as we well know.

Regards,

RPM

Hi Diana

Thanks you for the fast reply. We truly appreciate the feedback.

It is great that a hearing will be held, but until then we need some answers. Can you please let us know why you do not inform users about these problems, and why you are still selling the service without informing prospective customers? What is Telkom’s view on this?

Our irritation stems from the fact that we never get informed, and this is simply another case of not answering any question.

Regards,

RPM
