Howzit gents!

I decided to grow my beard during Movember, and now I've gotten so used to it that I don't want to shave it off.

What products do you use to maintain your beard?

How often do you wash your beard?

I want to try and make my beard look as professional as possible so my bosses can't say that it looks untidy.

I've had a beard for many many many many years now and don't really use anything except a comb. But sometimes I will dab on some beard oil when I feel my skin underneath is dry. I do wash it every day though

Jatman,

2 years ago I was very sick for 3 weeks .... could not spend the energy to shave and once I was eventually up and running again, my wife refused for me to shave it. Let's just say that ... erm ... well .... yeah .... it's been good having a beard!! :)

Anyways, I don't have a thick beard, but I shower daily and in washing face and hair, the beard gets a wash too! I've seen many products online, but to be honest, as Gothan noted, sometimes you'll notice your skin feels dry under the beard and then I just rub oil in my hands and rub it through the beard to reach the skin underneath. I do this about every 3rd day (Bio-Oil).

Other than that ... a good trimmer is a good investment!! I've not yet seen one with a decent quality comb, they're all plastic so I guess they'll eventually break (like my first Braun trimmer did). I don't think it's a problem with the trimmer, I think it's just the nature of plastic products.

I have very little facial hair (left side of my face has none thanks to radiation therapy). But I do have a little "Stache" and "chin fluff" :o ... I use natural oils when needed, Virgin Organic Coconut oil and I have a beeswax mix I bought a while ago. Both work very nicely, but must be used very sparsely, like a teeny bit only. Washing, use I use dove dermo sensitive for my face, thats it.

I had a beard for over a year, but have decided that summer days will be beardless, and winter will be with beard. That said:

- Washed it every day with my hair with shampoo
- I bought some Buffelsfontein beard oil, but my wife didn't really like the smell of it
- Get a nice comb

Buffelsfontein every 2nd day, daily sink/shower wash and a good brush (or two in my case) keeps any beard in mint condition

Nothing.
Washed it everyday in the shower with soap -like a man.

I grew it out for 1 year exactly. No trimming, no shaving or cutting a bit of this or a bit of that, no beard oil, no perfumes, nothing. (You're a man, not a girl.)

It was a beard of biblical proportions, but I had to shave it in October because I had to have pictures taken. Anyway...I'm growing it out now again. ( If you threw me onto the set of "Vikings" I'd disappear in plain sight -I suppose my hair hanging on my ass doesn't hurt. :D )

Anyway, (EDIT) Truckerly - Hillbillyly was where I had to end it, unfortunately:

Wash it every day in the shower when I wash my hair, it gets conditioner once a week or so to keep it soft otherwise I'm allowed no contact and Buffelsfontein oil every second day or so.

Wash daily, apply beard oil and comb.

I used to use a GHD to keep it nice and straight but I now prefer the slightly dishevelled look.

Virgin Organic Coconut oil and I have a beeswax mix

This is about the best mix, the "beard oil" products rip you off like a mofo. Argan oil also good, don't buy brand name bs, Soil essential oil sell it, superb quality and best price. Another very good oil is hemp oil.

But I'd use a coconut/beeswax combo as the everyday go to, a company called Bee Natural makes a lot of nice bees wax/propolis blends with various other goodies, cheap as well. Faithful to nature stocks most of their range.

Is it just me, or did many guys decide to grow beards for Movember? (I don't give a damn, I look like a Village Person with a 'stache. At least I didn't spray my hair for the shavathon.)

I should remember the Bio-oil one. I already had a decent trimmer, but I found a nice beard shampoo at Dischem - easy to find its the only one they stock. It contains lanolin, and stopped the itching and dry skin. Now I'm just keeping it nice and short, but the moment a heatwave hits, that sucker is meeting my local barber and his straight razor.
